Would’ve thought Thomas was better than that
Still don’t think he’s fully figured out his role on the team.

Personally not worried about him. This team is going to have different guys step up at different times. ~35% is not bad on his volume. I believe twice recently he's been fouled on 3s that he made all 3 free throws from

Looks about like my post pee wee basketball incident today.
Had a parent of a kid ON MY OWN TEAM come and ask me to go outside and fight after i told my girls to listen to me and ignore whats being shouted from the stands. Didn’t even look at the individual but evidently I hurt his feelings.
Dude I am almost 50 yrs old and it’s a 4th grade girls team and 6 of 9 had never picked up a basketball. He’s acting like it’s game 7 of the NBA finals.

That’s insane. I hope people told him to shut it down once they heard him and his crazy talk.

Truly perplexing to me how Kenpom has our strength of schedule so far ranked ~75th

Man I really want to beat Houston. Opening SEC play with Tennessee is also big, especially at home.

Going 3-2 against Sparty, Duke, L’ville, Texas Tech, and Houston would be a dang good OOC run leading into SEC play.

TB was eating that entire bench for lunch the entire second half. Go back and watch. Every time he hit a shot he pointed, laughed at, or anything else at them. Tech coach was losing his mind over it. Kept begging for a tech from the officials, a couple times I thought he might actually get one.

KenPom also had UK as the best team in the country like 2 weeks ago. It’s arse

If this team can continue to improve on rebounding and defensive rotations the sky is the limit.
Ewin is going to be an important piece of our potential growth. I like that he can score around the basket, now if we can get him to be more of a defensive force watch out.
I'm not sure what to do with Pringle. He has been disappointing. If he was giving us 8-10 ppg and 5-10 reb it would be different. He is just a big body that cannot score, and cannot defend any opposing big that has a smidge of talent.

We're starting to have enough data to see some trends between wins and losses.
Both charts mapped below are looking at only box plus/minus score - an interesting metric that often needs further context than viewing it alone (keep reading).
- First visual shows the difference in +/- per 40 min in wins vs in losses for the core 8 players in only the four high-major games.
- Second visual is total +/- per 40 in all four high-major games plotted alongside total minutes played.
Over-arching theme: Billy Richmond continues to be an unsung hero and absolute difference maker on this squad.
His impact isn't always represented in the box score, but the Hogs find life when he's on the court. Simply put.
Now for some additional context, here are some of the other biggest per 40 stat differences between the 2 wins and 2 losses aside from +/- score:
Malique Ewin points: 12.6 -> 26.7
Malique Ewin rebounds: 5.7 -> 20.0
Malique Ewin FTA: 1.1 -> 17.8
Malique Ewin True Shooting: 53% -> 80%
If you haven't caught on yet, Ewin being the player Arkansas expected him to be makes them an elite team capable of beating good teams. When he's off or lacking effort, they're vulnerable.
A few other notable increases between wins and losses:
Meleek Thomas points: 21.1 -> 27.2
Trevon Brazile points: 11.2 -> 26.3
Darius Acuff rebounds: 2.3 -> 5.6
Meleek Thomas FTA: 2.9 -> 14.4
Karter Knox stocks: 1.9 -> 3.8
With a rotation of eight players, it's important that Arkansas gets something from everyone every night. They've started getting more consistency from players like Ewin and Knox (especially against TTU).
Right now, the two players not showing an overly positive impact on winning in the stat sheet or metrics are DJ Wagner and Nick Pringle.
Both players make impacts beyond the stat sheet, especially Pringle with his interior defensive presence bothering opponents. As long as Ewin keeps his current trajectory, Arkansas only needs Pringle to be solid in his role, not a superstar.
We also saw last season that Wagner is capable of being the floor general on the team.
But I believe he's still searching for the best way to settle into his role alongside Darius Acuff - because make no mistake, this is Acuff's team with Brazile as his primary running mate.
Wagner can still be productive and impactful, and once he figures out the best way to do that within his role...
This team can be truly dangerous

Loving the improvement of this team. They play hard, play with energy. Meshing well together. We have elite guards and we all know how important that is come tourney time.
Very promising! This bunch is fun!!!!!
