That's losing baseball, don't GAF how you chop it up.
Aggie destroyed Bama that we struggled to win one game.

aggie hit the ball well and solid for base hits. I agree that it looks like our guys are swinging for the fence on good hitting pitches. Plus I didn’t see any solid, sharp hit balls to speak of.
Hopefully it’s just a slump, it seems familiar…

The concerning thing to me is that we’re not really hitting the ball hard in SEC play.
It’s one thing if you’re hitting piss missiles and they’re right into the defense, that’s baseball. But we seem to be hitting a ton of choppers, infield grounders, bloops, and pop ups, and getting on base at times due to error or a ball falling in no man’s land.
When DVH is telling guys like Stovall, Souza, and Holt to bunt and going full small ball, it’s obvious he has little faith in our lineup’s general ability to barrel anything up. The only guys who hit the ball consistently hard are Wagner and Helfrick, and they’re pure home run or strikeout guys (especially Wagner).

Putting a lot of pressure on the pitchers to win these close games.

And Molina is good, but not nearly as good as Hagen. It will take more than 3 runs to win a ball game today. Can the offense actually do that? It's sad we have to ask this question almost every game now.

Im truly lost at what is holding DVH back from letting him go.

Our offense definitely seems to ebb and flow based on our starting pitcher, and it’s almost like they feel they can take the night off when Hagen is on the bump.
With the exception of the Mizzou series, these is our run totals in games Hagen starts: 6, 5, 5, 3, 1, 7, 5, 5, 2.
In the 7 run game (LSU), we plated 4 after Hagen exited.
In one of the 5 run games (Murray St), we plated 3 after he exited.
So we’re averaging about 3.5 runs in that stretch when he’s pitching.
I know the counterpoint will be that we’re facing those teams’ game 1 starters, but that’s not been the case for a few of our series this year, notably Auburn, LSU and (I believe) Bama.

The bats disappeared in game two and game three against Oregon State.
Only scored four runs in the 2019 CWS.
22,5 and 2 runs against NCState.
17,5,11, 3 and 0 runs in the 2022 CWS.
13, 5, 6 and 4 runs last year.

It hasn't been the pitching in our post season losses outside of last year. Even those games we didn't really hit. We have averaged 2.8 runs per game in our post season losses and 2.0 runs per game in elimination games since 2018
5-3, 5-0 in 2018 CWS
1-0, 5-4 in 2019 CWS
6-5, 3-2 in 2021 Super
13-5, 2-0 in 2022 CWS
20-5, 12-4 in Regional

The Hogs have 11 games with 6 or fewer hits this season. 5 of those coming in our last 6. That's pathetic. We're lucky to be another 3 game winning streak. Tech and USce each gifted us 2 of those with errors and walks. This team is getting way too lucky.
Yes, sometimes luck is needed in baseball, but it will run out at the wrong time.

Why not give Jones a shot over Lovich? Lovich fricking sucks

Lovich has a higher SEC OPS than Helfrick, Diggs, White, and Edmunson.
ETA and Jones for that matter but Jones obviously has had far fewer attempts.

Of course Diggs K's. He should not be in the 4. He's an auto out now.

Diggs still sucking eggs at the plate. DVH still putting him in there to suck eggs.

Phil made an interesting comparison on air last night that I think is actually probably spot on. Diggs dealing with this shoulder injury and playing through it is a lot like Stovall last year playing through his.
My take is that’s admirable but it’s costing us a spot in the lineup we can ill afford to lose right now with the way we are hitting.
