How do you explain the last 3 natty winners failing to even make Omaha the following year?

Keep in mind you are not allowed to use

They all have titles and we don't.

That's enough for me.

Astute observation

They also didn't have one, until they did

Half our fanbase would call this dude a bad coach that needs to be fired

Every year someone would proclaim he was due to win one, never did.

Valid comparison even tho that isn't what you meant to do, DVH will never win a NC, stop pretending he will, stop acting like that is the goal, it isn't for DVH.

The point is Mike Martin is one of the best college baseball coaches of all time. It's not about assuming Dave will win one. It's about not acting like spoiled brats when he doesn't and giving the man some due respect. I do certainly WANT him to win one, though. I think if you need why you would pull for Dave to get a title explained to you, there's something wrong with you. It should be obvious to anyone who has followed this program for any decent amount of time since 2004.

I also don't fault Dave for 2018 (how can you?). So in my mind he should have a ring anyway, and I think that those of you who discredit that year in Dave's tenure are willfully disingenuous. If Carson Shaddy isn't a massive glory hound, Gates catches a lazy fly and we're champs by clawing out two games that we really weren't the better team in. I refuse to lay that at Dave's feet and act like he didn't do everything he needed to do to put his team in position to be National Champions.

I just don't see much point in pushing against it or trying to convince people to give up on seasons that haven't even happened yet. Especially when there's no evidence that shows he's struggling to keep a competitive team up on a yearly basis, which is already an elite standard. A standard so high that his own fanbase shrugs off winning two conference titles in three years and a divisional title in the 4th. To be honest with you I'm not even sure how someone could have been following this program for any decent amount of time and not be willing to ride with Dave until the wheels fall off. We have a connection between coach and program that is ridiculously rare and I have a feeling those that take it for granted now will regret it later.

Don’t disagree with the majority of this by any stretch and to be clear, I’m not saying firing him is the right move. I’m crystal clear that will never happen and he’s very much earned the right to call his own shot.

I think you saying you consider 2018 a win reinforces my point.

I think the frustration comes from the unwillingness to change the approach after continued failures. It gives me the appearance/suspician DvH also considers 2018 a win.

What hurts is it isn’t and never will be.

Ironically, here I am saying “it is what it is”.

Just picked up a commitment from Aloy's little bro, Kuhio Aloy. Big 12 all-freshman team.

I mean, he only hit .269 on a Big 12 team so Nate shouldn’t have to try that hard to get him down to .200

He was all big 12 freshman team.

Arguably better than his brother's freshman year when you take into account competition.

He hit .222 in conference with 2 HRs, OPS of .613 and a strikeout rate over 30%.

The problem, though, is that management needs to put that glory hound in check when he does stupid, glory hound stuff. DVH could have, and should have, told him to chill out and not do stupid stuff like that

This narrative needs to stop. Shaddy did what he was supposed to do. Eric Cole is the person that messed up. The outfielder ALWAYS has priority and he was content to let someone else try to make the play. With a half arse effort he catches the ball easily. Even after he gave up on it the ball still damn near hit him in the foot. Go back and watch the play and pay attention to Cole

A pitcher should never catch a ball anyone else can catch, a catcher should never catch a ball an infielder can catch, a corner infielder should never catch a ball that a middle infielder can catch, and no infielder should ever catch a ball that an outfielder can catch. This is very basic fundamentals.

I wish someone would ask him if he thinks he's as good of a coach is Patrick Casey.

Would you want him to say no I can guarantee he wouldn't keep a child molester on the team. Let's not forget Casey also nearly ruined a freshman's career to win a natty that year. You don't allow a 19 year old to throw 247 pitches in 6 days if you give a damn about your players. He is a good coach, but he's a piece of shite.
