Yep, I like our draw across the board with the exception of the possibility of pulling Iowa, who could be one of those weird tough teams out of the B10.

I didn’t like the Arizona name but after looking up their stats, they shouldn’t even be in.

If we play well we’ll host a super. The only issue is both TCU and Arizona have the on field talent to give us trouble for one game.

If UNC makes it out of Indiana State’s regional, that might make for an interesting Super at Baum considering we went to their place last year and knocked them out when they were a national seed

If all chalk holds (probably won’t), our side of the bracket in Omaha would be

#2 Florida
#7 Virginia

#3 Arkansas
#6 Vandy

I'd welcome this. I just don't want an LSU team with their ace on the bump. No way we beat him 3 times.

LSU and Wake being on the other side of the bracket was a win. Hell, I was glad to see Bama, Auburn, A&M, Tennessee and Clemson on the other side as well.

If we lose to Iowa in a home super regional we deserve to be out of the tournament

Some metrics think we have the toughest regional. I don't think it's easy but I'm not complaining, either. The Super draw is about as good as we could ask for.

That thread from the @statsowar guy is getting a lot of traction but I guess I’m just not seeing it. A lot of people think Arizona shouldn’t have even gotten in the field. Finished 12-18 in a pretty weak Pac 12 this year. And TCU also finished very middle of the road in the Big 12. Got hot and won the conference tournament but that tournament was loaded with upsets so they only played 1 NCAA tournament team the entire conference tournament and it was in the champ game when everyone is out of pitching.

I dunno, maybe I’ll eat my words and we’ll get worked in our own regional. I’m just having a hard time seeing it right now.

My only guess is that Santa Clara is a relatively tough 4 seed and is driving up the difficulty but I don't know enough to be sure. TCU can be dangerous but there's quite a few other 2 seeds I'd complain about pairing with before getting to TCU.

Arizona got hot late but were trash for 80% of the season. Timing thing though and they're playing their best ball.

My biggest gripe, though, was Arizona getting in over Southern California and UC Irvine. The Wildcats sure looked like a regional team this week in their run to the Pac-12 title game, and that performance surely made an impression on the committee. Arizona played its way from well off the bubble to right on the bubble over the last three weeks, going 2-2 against Stanford, winning a series from USC, taking a midweek road game from Irvine, and beating Arizona State. That strong late performance certainly earned the Wildcats strong at-large consideration, but we don’t believe it should have been enough to offset a 12-18 showing in regular season (making Arizona the team with the worst conference record to get an at-large bid since 2009).

Seems to be the case but it doesn’t look like it’s due to having a bonafide ace which would be more concerning.

I watched TCU play OSU in the B12 championship game and was impressed with their depth of pitching considering the circumstances. They’re a solid 2 but they’re not the only solid 2.

The draw as a whole all the way up until the CWS finals is very reasonable. If we get knocked out by TCU, Indiana State or Vandy then that’s on us.

I think it’s a tough regional but we have one huge advantage that can’t be discounted. We are playing in Fayetteville.

We are 30-4 at home.

Swept a hosting Auburn
Won a Bama series who is also hosting
Swept a strong 2 seed in Tenn
Won a USCe series who is hosting
We did not a lose a series at home.

I was perusing around Santa Clara’s website earlier looking at stats and saw that their average home attendance this year was 352

I guess I was just content to see TCU instead of DBU bc TCU wasn’t in anybody’s top 25 last week but DBU was sitting around #15.

But I know you always have to be wary of those #3 seeds bc they are usually very middle of the road teams from a P5 conference who could just turn it on all the sudden. Compared to the other teams you might see as a #3 seed like a conference USA runner up or something like that

I’ve always looked at the 3 seed as the equivalent of an 11 seed in basketball. Good enough to beat you if they play great and you don’t, but you should beat them the vast majority of time.

Mercy, they’ll be shell shocked by the crowd. I wonder what the biggest crowd they have played in front of is.

That’s one advantage we have, we are used to big crowds no matter where we play.

Anyone know the pitching rotation? TCU run ruled our righties earlier in the year. Would love to smith and HH available for game 2.

If it were me I'd use smith in game one and Hollan in game 2(or vice versa). Not both in a single game. Can't overlook game 1 to save arms for game 2 and we don't have enough depth to use them both up in the same game in my opinion.

I looked it up - biggest crowd was a game @Cal Poly with an attendance of 1,857. They just finished up the West Coast Conference tournament which averaged about 1,200 per game.
