Lol what a terrible play by the A&M pitcher. That ball was going foul 100%.

Why did Tygart only go one inning? Just saw a boxscore and curious. Not where I can listen or watch.
This please

I’m glad to see a bunt with runners in scoring position with no outs instead of watching 3 outs and no runs scored. Finally.

Tonight was pretty much a rehab assignment. Inning to get him back in the groove and that’s it. The kid hasn’t pitched in 2 months

Good deal. I was just making sure he didn't go out with an injury again.

This.
DVH even basically said the benefit of starting Tygart in a pen game right now is that he could effectively control his workload that way.
Don’t look at innings, look at number of pitches. If Tygart had had an uber efficient 1st we’d have probably seen him in the 2nd, but he reached his 20 pitch count so they rolled with Mac.

I like how McEntire is tracking. Think he’ll be a strength of this pitching staff by the time we get to postseason play.

20/20 hindsight, but I didn’t like pulling Mac with 2 outs and going to Foutch.
Mac struck out the first two batters he faced in the 7th and then walked the 3rd. DVH pulls him and inserts Foutch, who promptly gives up a 2 run homer to the first batter he faces to cut the lead to 6-4.
Why not just let Mac get the final out of the 7th, or go to Wood.

Getting from the 6th to the 8th is a big issue for this team. Losing Frank really sucked.

Yep. We lack a true setup guy like Evan Taylor was last year and Frank was shaping up to be this year.

Gage Wood is gonna be a great pitcher for us providing he stays healthy. Great job for a Freshman

It seems like him being a complete freak show is being slept on.

OP is semi-updated. Sorry, have been out since last Saturday. Woof at what happened since. Good response this weekend against a pretty hot team and with our injuries, I will take it.

I kind of liked that opener last night. Tygart got an inning...which let McEntire get into the 7th, and likely should have finished the 7th.
Curious to see if DVH does that going forward any...You could actually use that same type of rotation 2 times over a weekend...Tygart on Friday night starting, throwing 10-20 pitches in first inning...Bring in Hollan and have him get you into the 7th, then bring in Smith, and ideally Smith would have a low pitch count...Repeat that on Sunday? I dunno...but I sort of like the idea. Some teams do it in the MLB and Stanek was in that opener role a few years back with the Rays.
I say Friday & Sunday because, if Tygart feels fine after the first inning on a Sunday and his pitch count is low...then see if you can get another inning or two out of him, which would get you to the 3rd or maybe 4th before you bring your "starter" in for the middle innings.
