Non conf scrub minute distribution is a LOT different than SEC games.

Just like vs Duke, Brazile played 38 minutes and Battle 31.

You only do that type of rotation for big games and conference games. If you had Brazile/Battle etc playing damn near 40 minutes all non conf they would be gassed by SECT.

Part of me really thinks Brazile is going at about 70% in these scrub games. Whether for himself to be careful or even the staff to ease his workload idk but he basically no shows a lot vs the nobodies and is a beast still in our bigger games.

I’m guessing Muss didn’t consider UNC and OU big games huh

I said it last year around the same time, and I'll say it again.

Not even worried. We'll improve drastically. I'm almost starting to think Muss sandbags the first half of the season.

I don't understand it, but this is what we do every year under Muss.

He was hurt vs OU, no one even expected him to go and he basically didn't least amount of minutes and was clearly hobbled.

Double double vs Memphis and Duke huh

Speaking of Memphis, they beat undefeated Clemson last week and then beat #22 Virginia by 23! Will jump up in polls from 23.

I've been saying Memphis is a good team. And we outplayed them slightly IMO.

What do you mean by stupid shot?

Contested/ off balance 3s? He's shooting 44% on the season, on 50+ attempts. Basically the same % as Brazile, who is considered the best 3pt shooter on the team (outside Pinion maybe) by Muss. And Brazile pretty much only shoots 3s where he's completely set and fairly open.

Battle is capable of hitting those 3s that look like bad decisions. Pretty consistently. So what do you need from him? 50+% from 3 or he's benched?

Or is it the contested dribble drives that you have an issue with? Maybe you'd have a point here, his FG% isn't anything great from 2 pt range. Until you start considering he's maybe the most effective player at getting to the line that we've seen under Muss.

On the year he's had 84 free throw attempts, off of just 54 2 point attempts. Pretty awesome ratio.

He also happens to convert 83% of the time, so he has 70 points off of free throws, nearly double the next highest on the team.

Dunno. Of the ones he hit last night, one of them was off balance in transition. One of them was off the dribble, decently contested. Are we benching him for those too?

Shooters shoot. If he feels it, then let rain.

Memphis is definitely a solid team. We gave them a good game but they were better. Don’t think they trailed in the second half and the game was in well in hand with four minutes to go.

Hard to say you’re a better team when a you’re never really pushing the other team in the second half.

Brazile has the same problem a lot of guys on this team and last year’s team had. He’s just not a professional, he’s a kid. I don’t mean that to say he’s not supremely talented. I’m saying I don’t think he’s embraced this as a job.

Guys on Muss’s first two teams were professionals. Mason Jones, Jimmy Whitt, Audiese Toney, Justin Smith etc all professionals. I see more kids the last two years. Guys that haven’t matured and embraced the fact that this is how they’re going to pay their bills. Lawson and Mark get it I think but I’m not sure on the others.

Musselman doesn’t turn kids into professionals. That’s not his m.o. if you’re not ready then he moves on. He knows that In the tournament you will run into grown men and get slapped around if you’re not about it.

Reffing was atrocious against us. And the lead was 6 or less for all but like 6-7 minutes of game time. I think 5 of their points were off technicals

Adding Menifield definitely gives us a bit more, so would we beat them now with him? Maybe.

Pretty sure that's the game where Ellis gave the ball away on what should've been the last possession of the half, and memphis came down and hit a 3 at the buzzer. So if Menifield could have done better than that, potential 5/6 point swing right there

That tracks with the fact that we’re the best team in the country when playing at BWA but below average everywhere else.
