Where do those minutes get distributed now?

Well I think the idea of having two of Graham/Twins or Johnson on the floor at the same time isn't realistic long term because none of them have the shot to space the floor like Brazile. Against some teams it will work though.

I believe one of those will emerge as the five going forward and one will be providing mins off the bench. Makhi is probably the favorite to eat most of those minutes. Graham has more upside but not sure he can handle the post on defense against most good teams.

Depending on the match up I'm sure Walsh or Council will be getting the mins at the 4. The other spots will be a mix of Black/Devo/NSJ imo.

Might make makhi play the 4 more

This could be interesting because he has shown that he can be respectable with his jumper if his attempts are limited. I'm not sure how well Graham could be paired with him though. Seems like Johnson or his brother would be the better fit next to him.

It could honestly go so many different ways. Muss will figure it out by February.

You watch Graham is going to be good.

Trevon was very much sort of a 3 anyway

play like a 3, rebound like a 4

Council and Walsh got this - and Graham

Everyone ran with the TV announcers out of context last night thinking they said it wasn't long term but they just said hopefully.
It wasn't out of context. They literally said word for word "We received reports that it isn't long term." coming out of halftime.

Considering he was back on the bench in the second half I can see why they would think it wasn't season ending.

I like the positive attitude but throwing him into the rotation that late in the season probably wouldn't end well

After surgery the typical recovery is 9 months.

Maybe.

But most teams don't have 2 guys to match up with them. Put them both on the block and get the ball to the guy with the mismatch. He'll be going against their 4. And we should get extra chances on rebounds with 2 bigs.

The biggest problem is being able to defend on the other end.

That works but not really something Muss has shown he likes to do but Muss has changed with different teams so we will see.

Yeah he has his own ways of doing things. Seems like at the beginning of the year he likes to experiment as much as possible and especially let the players just do their thing so he can see what he's working with.

If I had that many quality bigs though I'd be trying to work the post and foul out their bigs. But that's why Muss makes a thousand times more money than me

They made some advances as it use to be not only a season ending but a career ending injury. Now they recover faster and hasn't been the death blow it use to be.

I remember when Madre Hill got injured against Florida in what I believed he had a partial ACL tear but dumbass Danny Ford had him play a few possessions later which had him grabbing his knee in agonizing pain. Ford ruined his career and he was never the same player after that.

Yep… ACL used to be a career ender. Now it’s a 4-6 month rehab. Sometimes the elite guys recover quicker. Our starting RB at one of the schools I coached at tore his in august and ran in a track meet in Feb. good as new. Won the 100m. March is a little soon to expect him back though.

ANTHONY BLACK, ARKANSAS

quote:

Anthony Black missed the start of Arkansas’ summer practices because he was helping Team USA’s U18 team win a gold medal. When he came back, Black immediately stunned the Arkansas staff with how well he knew the playbook.

“I’ve never seen a player come in the middle and literally knew almost our entire playbook that we’ve known so far,” Arkansas coach Eric Musselman said. “I was kind of speechless. He literally was asking about third and fourth options on plays and we have guys who are here from Day 1 who are still trying to figure out the second option. I thought I was with an NFL veteran QB who was asking questions and had just missed a couple OTAs or something."

Black’s eye-popping talent and keen basketball IQ has been extremely evident throughout the first month of the season. With Nick Smith Jr. sidelined with an injury, Black stepped up as the go-to decision-maker for Arkansas, and the Hogs' effective field-goal percentage jumps nearly 5.0% with Black in the game, per Pivot Analysis. He just creates good shots. Even against stiff competition in the Maui Invitational, Black was the best player on the floor. He had 26 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals against Creighton.

Black's usage rate has dropped a tad now that Smith is back in the mix, but the 6-foot-7, 200-pound freshman just looks like a pro. His positional size is off the charts. He’s shooting 40% from 3-point range. Black has flashed some terrific moments as a playmaker and as a defender, especially against pick-and-rolls. There’s still room to grow, but Arkansas is getting everything it wanted and more out of Black through the first nine games of the season.

great story

I'm still sick about Trevon

as a small child I witnessed Marvin Delph's long range beauty (and Ron Brewer Sr), then fast forward I guess to William Mills, Todd Day and then Scotty, and I don't think I've seen a more beautiful long range stroke that Trevon's

ETA: was Ronnie Brewers and Joe Johnson's strokes as good? I literally cannot remember
