That hire was a colossal train wreck. Makes Bert look like we hired Saban.
I disagree it was public knowledge, message board chatter at best. Just saying it could have been reported on by actual media (though that'd have to come from outside the state
) and been as widely reported as the Petrino fiasco.

Grant Hall is reporting on the radio that Marshall fell through because of money.
Someone is saying we can't pay more than Morris makes for fear of becoming like Kansas. They want to avoid the perception of a basketball only school. So they decided to offer Marshall 3.5 with a backend incentives package for a lot more.
He wanted more up front. Again, according to Grant Hall, but I tend to trust him more than a lot of others.

So we’re ok paying 6 million for Beard but for Marshall nope can’t even give you a raise? This needs to not be true.

This makes no sense with everything else being reported. Means we actually have no intention of trying to hire Beard because it is going to take more than 3.5.

Well, I agree but not because of what Grant said. His statements don't really follow any of the other beliefs being thrown around. I also doubt we try to make an offer at Marshall and upfront the deal is the same he is making currently. I think the 4-5M makes more sense.

Good point.
Back on subject. Call me crazy but I'm fine with not landing Marshall. May have mentioned this before, but I just don't think he'd elevate our program much further than Mike did. And he'd be here for 7-8 years, doing just good enough to not get fired.

Nobody on here as called any coaches' offices, so I'd say we're doing alright.

If the rumor of not paying enough, because of football is true... we are complete and utter idiots.
You do not fire a coach the caliber of MA and hire an up and comer (Jans, Ricard Jr.) to replace him with. When you fire CMA you have to show that you are once again serious about Basketball. Only one way to do that folks. Beard, Marshall, Donovan, and a very few others are the only choices.
If the rumor of not paying enough, because of football is true... we are complete and utter idiots.

Everybody relax. Everyday this week a new coach has been the favorite. Today just happens to be the day that the sky is falling.
