How much less would you care?

I wish we wouldnt have wasted a scholarship on grant morgan. He played as our 3rd linebacker for bert, and did well at times, just way to undersized. He didn't play much at all this year, and he could have been used to give our guys some rest for at least a few plays or a series.
If they thought that poorly of him then why even give him a scholarship?? If we hadn't wasted it we could take 1 more, and it wouldn't leave us having to leave one of these last few talented guys out for a QB.
I wish we had a QB so bad so we could have actually taken a roberson/brooks jr/sci Martin along with a grad transfer QB.
We really need catalon, brooks, lakia henry, sci martin, and a QB. I would have been good with losing Martin for Roberson just for O line depth, but LB depth is a must as well. So is secondary. I just feel like we have 1 spot too few for me to feel like we added quality depth across all of our need areas imo.
Losing carl William's hurt, but also helped, but i figure if we somehow still get catalon that myles brooks will decommit, and we will still take sci martin in his lost spot.

Player's coaches lose. That's why BMFP win a lot of football games. People were afraid of screwing up. BMFP also didn't think it to be necessary to give every walk-on a scholarship. Stop being nice and win some football games.

Curious as to why you picked Morgan of all people to gripe about? He’s been a solid special teams contributor and played well in limited snaps on defense.
What about the other LBers that Bert put on scholly out of high school and haven’t played at all? Or the disappointing WR’s/ DL on Scholly that can’t crack the 2 deep? Lots of issues on this team but wouldn’t call Morgan one of them

Man, i have some bad news for you about BMFP...

Im not sure if you have noticed, but clearly a bunch of these WRs are transfering, and i expect some more of those LBs to transfer.
Morris can not do anything about the shite scholarship players bert left him. He is processing them as quickly as possible if you haven't noticed. there was an article put out the other day, and almost 30 players since last year have exited the program. What morris can do is not give out scholarships to walk ons you have no intention of using except on ST.
I clearly started that post saying morgan played meaningful minutes under bert, and played well at times. He did not do that this year. Bumper took his place, and we didnt use him as well. I clearly said i wanted him to come in to give guys rest. I like grant. I just do not see why we gave him a scholarship to play on just ST.
We are not good enough to be throwing away a scholarship for a guy we think can play at this level, and give it to a guy (though deserving) who they don't have confidence in.

I agree on giving out wasted schollies to walk ons. But a big part of my point was putting Morgan on scholarship had no bearing on getting these other guys so not sure why you’re singling him out. We were under the 85 limit last year, we can still only sign 29 this year no matter what and as you pointed out the deadweight are leaving to clear space. Morgan was not only a key special teams contributor but also in the 2 deep and ahead of multiple “scholarship players.” He absolutely deserves to be on scholly

RB? Decommit from Mizzou.... Nice offer list, 3*
Think if this had happened sooner there might be more traction here but never know. Staff seems deadset on Spivey granted he’s eligible. DW reported mutual interest with Asa Martin, the transfer from Auburn. If we could get him he’d probably be the only way we take 2 RB’s. That’s with losing a commit or taking 1 less at another position.

We were only allowed 4 to count back because of the scholarships granted to the walk ons. We only signed like 18 last year. After giving 3 to walk ons that leaves you at 21. 25-21=4. 25+4=29. We could have more if morgan was not given a scholarship. He may have been on the depth chart, but was never used enough imo. Our starters stayed in unless hurt. I just feel like they didn't trust him, and if they didnt then why give him one?
Also hard pass on the mizzou decommit. 6'0 175-180. His timed 40 is 4.69. Now that time might be wrong, but he is still thin. I think they believe spivey will get his grades, or we would be looking more. If the Asa thing is true he may be the back up option.

Got it, my mistake, for some reason I thought the scholarship wouldn’t count against the last class and wasn’t sure how we got the 21. Knew we signed 18 but brought in the late jucos/ grad transfers w/ harrell and stoudemire. Thought i was missing another to make the 21

Any reason as to why we got the cb for henry?

Looks to be a combination of things. Tenner has offered other lber’s and doesn’t seemed to have made him as big of a priority as we have. Also he isn’t signing until February so think we’re more willing to wait on him than Tenner is

Oh ok. I take it he would step in and be a day 1 starter here?
Posted on 12/13/18 at 9:48 am to Hawgnsincebirth55
Yea sounds like they want him to start at the Will next to Scoota. Pool would basically continue his role from last year, probably rotate at both spots. Then be ready to start in Scoota’s place as a jr

He will eventually be a starter at the end of the season. Will be behind like boyd was. Now that dee is gone he will probably end up in his spot. We need another LB for sure now in sci martin. We need to remove myles brooks for catalon to make this work.

Dee Walker's (soph LB) just opened up.
ETA: Not 'official', just an educated guess.

He isnt even listed on the online roster. He is gone. Honestly i am fine with it. Our team needs opiates, and adderall. Not xanax and weed

I wish we hadn't taken that dude from kansas now. I know i complained about morgan last night (i am not complaining about the player, just the used scholarship for someone they didnt even use), but that dude also barely played, and now i feel like our freshman will be playing over him again this year. Those are really my only 2 complaints from last years recruiting ventures. I liked the dudes size, but i knew that if he couldnt get on the field at kansas how would he do it here.

So now we need 2 linebackers really?
