I thought Young’s size may be a problem. It hasn’t at all. He is accurate for the most part, has a quick release, and is so calm. We are in good hands with Young if we can just protect him.

Corral had his chance head to head and laid a turd.

There's only two issues I have with Young right now. His deep ball needs a lot of work. Also he holds on to the ball way too long, that might be on the WRs not getting open enough but still it's like he's asking a sandwich down there sometimes. Other then that he's been excellent. Mac is my favorite QB to come through here but he would be murdered with this Oline and that's where Young really shines.

This is really a quasi-Heisman question as they likely will stay the front runners, although I think CJ Stroud is now a dark horse. I think from a college QB stand point there is a lot to like about both. Admittedly through crimson glasses, if we are talking pure football I give an edge to Bryce as he is a first time starter and has comparable if not better numbers with approximately 20 fewer starts and I think he reads defenses better than Corral. With that being said Heisman-wise it will all come down to the "Heisman moment", and if one of them pieces together like a 5 TD 500 yard game or makes a throw to seal a comeback or something like that, that could give them the award. If Bama holds serve Bryce has an ace in the hole as he will have a chance to have a strong game against UGA's defense.

ETA: I will add that I wish Bryce was more of a risk taker downfield. Mac three a lot of dimes on deep balls but he would also put some up there just expecting our guys to win which they did more often than not. Sometimes I wish he would cut it loose and let the receivers make a play.

^^this^^

Bryce has EIGHT starts under his belt, those numbers are excellent considering the pressure he is under most of the time.

I wouldn’t trade Young for Corral but I have a ton of admiration for how Corral has performed. He’s carrying OM on his back and pretty much singlehandedly won the Tennessee game.

He’s a baller for sure.

My apologies for the downvote, hit it by accident when scrolling on my phone and can't remember how to rescind it.

I completely agree with you btw.

Can an admin help me out and remove my downvote? TIA

I agree that Corral has been impressive, but lets not forget that they 2 really good RBs as well.

I knew Bryce was talented based of his HS TAPE but the kid is way better than I thought he'd be at this stage.

Thought we'd see more of a game manager as he's a first time starter with a new OC but he is arguably the best QB in the country right now. Just so impressed with his pocket awareness and his ability to read defenses pre and post snap. As someone mentioned in another thread, he has to get his timing down with his long ball because he's missed a few TD's but there isn't alot missing from his game.

Thanks Teague, much appreciate the assist.

Evidently someone else downvoted his comment.

ETA: It amazes me how certain posters forget just how young/inexperienced our team/coaches is. I'm much more impressed by Young than I ever imagined at this point.

I'd take Young over Corral every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I disagree with that. His deep ball does need some work, or trust his receivers more, but in my opinion it's not as bad as "needs a lot of work".

I think Tua (career ncaa leader in pass efficiency) and Mac (single season leader in pass efficiency) makes us forget what normal pass efficiency looks like. For a first year starter, Young is better than average and way better than bad.

Passing Efficiency Rating Career Leaders and Records

1 Tua Tagovailoa* 199.4 2017 2019 Alabama
2 Mac Jones* 197.6 2018 2020 Alabama
3 Kyler Murray* 181.3 2015 2018 Oklahoma
4 Justin Fields* 178.8 2018 2020 Ohio State
5 Sam Bradford* 175.6 2007 2009 Oklahoma
6 Baker Mayfield* 175.4 2013 2017 Oklahoma
7 Dwayne Haskins* 174 2017 2018 Ohio State
8 Joe Burrow* 172.4 2015 2019 LSU
9 Marcus Mariota* 171.8 2012 2014 Oregon
10 Tim Tebow* 170.8 2006 2009 Florida

Another point we are sometimes disregarding is that Tua and Mac were throwing to 4 NFL first round wide receivers.

Bryce is the rare young QB who needs to play less conservatively. Most of his deep ball struggles are the result of him being afraid of underthrowing the ball and having it picked off. His throws aren't inaccurate. He's off by like 2 yards and receivers aren't having to adjust to track the ball very often. I think he's just throwing them so that either his guy can catch them or no one can. The problem with that is that for every 10 slightly underthrown deep balls you're going to end up with 3 completions, 3 DPI flags, 3 incompletions, and 1 INT. He's got to trust his guys to go up and get it.

Granted, I haven't watched all the qbs in the conference, but what I've seen he's the best, and he's played 8 games so far in the SEC. If I'm not mistaken 2020 was Mac's 4th year at UA so Young is probably ahead of Mac at this point. The flip side to that is, if Young keeps improving, and I think he will, he may not play 4 years in college.
