Wommack Was Worse Than Grubb

When you watch the film, a lot of the offensive playcalls were actually there, and the players (particularly the OL and WRs) just failed to do their job.
With Wommack, the defensive playcalling the last 2 games has been completely indefensible. We never put more than 7 in the box, even when they have 9-10 dudes in tight and they're running down our throats.

Yeah but veer and shoot is doing that to you by formation. However this was fairly condensed and we should have had a check to a different defense whenever they went condensed with 2 tight.

I’m not sure about him being worse than Grubb, but I agree, his scheme was horrible. Especially in the second half. He gave Tennessee the exact looks that they were hoping for to be able to sustain long drives and burn clock

It was the exact same thing vs. Georgia. They consistently had 9 guys blocking 7 in the run game, and we've still got 2 deep safeties in obvious run situations. Like wtf are we doing??
His whole philosophy is "make them snap it again"
Yeah, well Tennessee kept snapping it again and again for 10 fricking minutes and that's literally how we lost.
Sometimes you don't want the other team to be able to run the entire 4th quarter off the clock on one drive when you're behind.

In Kane's defense, you can only fit so many formations and plays on a flash card

Where is Hootie Ingram when we really could use him.

I wasn't pissed at him until the drive in the 3rd qtr. The defense fought hard early and stood tall with Tennessee having great field position. Later in the game he was trying to protect the defense by playing passive. I know losing Brown sucked big-time, but he needed to make MacIntyre throw it over their heads.
UT was 6-15 on 3rd downs. All conversions were 3rd and 4yds or less. We didn't force him out of his comfort zone near enough. He didn't have to do anything special and that's the kick in the nuts looking back.

Yes unfortunately, you have to start taking some risks on defense when you are down in the 4th quarter. Need negative plays and turnovers. Bend but don't break doesn't work in that situation.
Georgia offense and Tennessee offense just completely iced the games in the 4th quarter 2 weeks in a row and we couldn't do anything about it (or didn't really try everything we could to prevent it).
Also the injuries are showing how precarious college football rosters are in the portal era. There is NO experienced depth. Coaches that figure out how to coach around this issue with scheme or play calling are going to be the successful ones. It is difficult. But you are paid multi millions to figure it out.

My thoughts exactly. Each injury we've had has shown up in a big way.
It's impossible to keep any quality depth.
We lost Isaiah Horton, Qua Russaw, Kelby Collins, and James Smith to the portal among others. They'd all be huge for us right now.
Nobody can afford to have depth anymore.

So fire them both.
And you know the best way for Greg Byrne to make that happen?
And if he doesn't, Peter Mohler needs to clean house, starting at the top.

If tweet fails to load, click here. These guys have been hammering Womack. Basically they say his scheme is fine against spread teams from the 2010's

Now maybe people understand why Saban only let assistants talk to the media twice a year.
Ryan Grubb should never be allowed behind a microphone, ever again.

I have been for a while but we only gave up 26 points to a horrible offense.
Lol the defense is bad, Womack needs to go

until proven otherwise, I just have to assume Bama's D can be elite when their scheme matches up against the opponent scheme and game situation. It will suck when it doesn't. And "they're going to pound the ball on us in a low scoring game until we tire late" is unfortunately a scheme/situation teams are seeing a LOT of in playoff-deciding games now.
Bingo cfb nerds, Womack never deviates from his base defense.. Everyone knows that now

The entire staff is ordinary at best. Kalen keep his shitty OL coach for 2 years before making a change. Hell, most of you have been screaming to fire Freddie for years. Who on this staff have any accomplishments?

We are in a rough spot. Needless to say.

This is what I said during the game. No adjustments. 7-10 yard cushions against a qb making his 2nd start. This whole staff is bush league. Literally a bunch of swac pac Midwest nerds

Tenner's defense gave up 14 to barn who just scored 27 vs uga on the road.
Maybe Tenner's defense is good??
But Kirby is still elite because he gave up 27 to barn at home??
This. Is. fricking. Stupid.
