I’d be surprised to see any new NCAA men’s sports added. Bama added women’s rowing for title IX and they have to compete in the Big 10 since there’s only one or two other SEC teams with rowing teams. I’m not aware of any other SEC schools with a men’s soccer team.

(There is a soccer club team for the men - along the same lines as hockey, rugby, volleyball, etc)

I’d be surprised if soccer isn’t added to every SEC school. It’s probably the fastest growing sport in the US.

About Zero percent chance due to title IX compliance costs. The only way somethinglike that happens is if they dropped mens swimming and diving to pick up soccer, which is not very likely.

I've been hearing this lie for the past 20 years. There may be more talk of soccer every so often (usually World Cup years like this year) but it's the slowest "fastest growing sport" I have ever heard of. I hear more about pickleball than I do soccer.

We'd need to add another scholarship women's team.

Candidates:

Rifle, Equestrian, Beach Volleyball, Bowling and Lacrosse all already have other SEC schools participating.

NCAA sports where we'd be on our own: Field Hockey, Water Polo, Fencing.

Um.... the state of American soccer from 2000 to now has been astronomical in terms of growth, talent and relevancy.

Kentucky is the #2 team in the Men's Soccer polls right now.

Kentucky seems to have all the men’s sports that Bama has, plus soccer. So now curiosity is getting the better of me. They have “STUNT” and “Dance Team” listed under the women’s teams in addition to the sports Bama offers (although they aren’t NCAA sports from what my fingers are googling). Maybe as long as they provide scholarships to be on those ‘teams’ it satisfies Title IX?

The Sun Belt Conference announced on Wednesday that it will bring back men's soccer beginning in fall 2022 with Kentucky set to join the league as an affiliate member. The Wildcats' men soccer program had been part of Conference USA since 2005

Looks like South Carolina also fields a men’s soccer team which also competes in the Sun Belt

Honestly, I'd much rather have hockey.

But yeah, we'd have to add a women's sport.

That's be soo much fun.

But on paper, the choice is clear for the University. Soccer already has a stadium, facilities and would just need to build a men's locker room and lounge. Done.

Hockey needs a huge arse arena able to freeze ice. Ideally it would do double duty as Tuscaloosa's community ice rink, until you remember UA loathes to have non university events in most their facilities.

Pickleball was listed as the fastest growing American sport earlier this year. Just have to figure our exactly what the hell it is and then field a championship team. Seems easy enough.

this will only be our 5th time making the post season in 36 seasons. Only once have we advanced out of the first round of ncaas, and it was last year's 11-10-1 squad. I'd like to point out that is also the only team who has advanced beyond round 2 of the sec tournament.

Big key here.

It's too early. Will Wes Hart join Sarah Patterson and Pat Murphy as non-revenue Bama legends with a program that joins the elite of their sport year in and year out?

Or will he be Rick Moody and W Basketball. Building something that is fun while it lasts, but lacks staying power and crumbles back to our average existence.

I'd like to point out women's swimming finished 4th last year and 5th the year prior It's not that flash in the pan seasons aren't great, but absolutely would enjoy longterm consistent success in any/every sport we do. All we can do now is enjoy this season for what it is, and hope we enjoy the recruiting bump a season like this brings when we start up next August. My younger brother played college soccer, so I love tossing out this season's success.
