Will Bama get too cute on offense?

Sometimes Bama has a tendency to over think the gameplan in these big games. The opposite needs to happen in this one.

If Bama runs a ground & pound offense, OU will be on the ropes the whole game.
If Bama comes out throwing, OU will welcome the track meet.

What does the run:pass ratio need to be?
I’m thinking at least 2:1...maybe closer to 3:1.

That is unless OU has managed to find a run defense and Bama is consistently going 3 & out. Doubtful.

If I were coaching OU’s defense, I would bet on a heavy dose of play action/RPO early, because that’s what all of the scouting will point to.

If Bama comes out throwing, it will be the kind of hame that drives us nuts.

Asking if we’ll be too cute on offense and then saying we need to utilize an offensive game plan that we haven’t used all year is the definition of being too cute.

I agree. Just be balanced on offense. Okla has improved some on defense--especially the run defense . Just look at the Texas scores. But they like to put a bunch of def backs in the game and protect against the long pass. If Tua gets in a grove like he did against Auburn in the second half, we will score plenty. But, if he hurts that knee or ankle again, I just hope we give Jalen a chance earlier.

On defense, they will eat you alive if you blitz, so we need to be careful with that.

But OU is worse against the pass. Plus, we haven't done that all year. If Tua doesn't get greedy and utilizes his check downs, we'll be fine.

No Offense - But, now that Locks is heading to Md and Enos is taking over the OC... Looks like Jones may join Locks in Md... seems there could be openings for new O Coaches. With the type of analysis provided here, maybe someone should forward to Coach Saban and Coach Enos... there could be a career change on the horizon.
Trust in the Saban, with 20-30 days to prepare, most believe there is no better coach in the history of CF getting the team ready.

A ground and pound offense is a great way to keep OU within striking distance the whole game.

Bama is better than OU. Don't limit our chances to prove it. Limited possessions means a greater chance of aberrations.

Imagine you have a six-sided die, with four sides being crimson and two sides being orange. If you roll it ten times, there's a decent probability you could get six oranges. If you roll it a hundred times, you're always going to get more crimson.

Just keep doing what we have done all year. Okie's secondary sucks. Only a fool would not continually attack it.

We’re also missing our top run blocker.

I disagree Bama needs to run the same offense they ran all year. You don’t change who you are at go time.

This. Show up and play your game, execute well and chances are very good you win.

Oklahoma is not a complete team, make them pay for that by executing well.

Like Ive said my only concern offensively because we don't throw to a tall wr in the red zone on back fade.
Is we don't get to cute inside the 10 yard line and use Jacobs/Harris trusting our ground game.
I would love to see Brian Robinson maybe used inside the 10 sometimes as well.
(quick feet/slash with power as well.

Play our game, but if we identify a weakness like OU cannot stop a toss right don't get cute and decide we have to do something else. Make them stop it or make them eat it.

I know earlier in the season our scoring was so quick that we ended up leaving the D on the field longer in the first half. The move to run-heavy after halftime balanced the TOP out, but I clearly recall seeing our guys gassed. It would be a mistake to fall into this pattern with OU.

Don't care whether we run or pass but Bama MUST have success and score. I am hopeful Bama can score 1st and make OU play from behind instead of the opposite. I assume OU's defense will take chance after chance(no risk anyway with their past) in order to get a stop(s). Hopefully Bama can make them pay. Bama can't help them with turnovers nor one of those shet the bed 1st half like against UGA. We'll see.

I'm not terribly worried about our offense or defense in this game. We aren't going to shut them out, but i'll be shocked if they score more than 28

Thats why I hope we see the combo back field of 8 and 22 with jacobs swinging out in the flats or the counter with jacobs leading Najee thru.

If we can hold them to 35 or less, I think we win
