Preach …

OSU has had a stable program with their transition from an all-time great to replacement happening before unlimited free agency. They literally took our best player on the roster Saban left behind. They took Kansas State's quarterback to cover down on McCord being a bust and grabbed our HS signee to replace him next year. They have good coaching continuity, a deep roster, and bought their way out of their few gaps on the roster at quarterback and safety.
Alabama lost arguably the greatest coach of all time after the NCAA created a scenario where retirements let the entire college football profession pick over your roster. We lost our best returning corner, safety, and wide receiver to Ole Miss, Ohio State, and Texas respectively. Three of the biggest buyers in the transfer portal. Our QB room is trash because we missed on Drake Maye in 2023 and lost Sayin before he even got his dorm room settled in Tuscaloosa.
So yeah, I'm not really struggling to figure out why we had struggles in 2024. Hell, a lot of the problems like the trash QB room and largely undeveloped WR corp was a problem in 2023 or even earlier in the case of the WRs. Edit: And we haven't had good OL coaching since 2021 and its going to take awhile to fix the eval misses and developmental gaps.

If you take a step back and view things holistically and not in the moment....
I wouldn't say Ryan Day is a world beater. Him and Franklin have some pretty horrific records against big games.
This year was a transition period for Alabama. You're comparing Kalen DeBoer (Year 1) vs Ryan Day (Year 6)
Also, OSU spent the most money in CFB this year for talent. For years and years, having the most talent/depth in CFB has been the most important attribute to a winning program. Saban had years where we won on talent alone.

Ohio State generally has a good tradition at developing wide receivers, defensive backs, linebackers, and defensive line. Day has left a lot to be desired as a game day head coach but he essentially maintained continuity with what Urban Meyer established. The Michigan game problem I can't explain but the big games in the playoffs he's lost were easily explained by "opponent's roster was better and their coach more established." He lost to 2019 Clemson with TLaw, 2020 Alabama Offensive arse-Kicking Machine, and 2022 UGA (Kirby's best team). I mean shite, those teams had a combine 1 loss and it was Clemps to 2019 LSU Offensive arse-Kicking Machine.

The only good thing about JP days was you couldnt really tell what was going on so the losses didnt seem so bad.
Funny side note, can you imagine trying to do official replays with JP fuzzy vision cameras. Nothing would ever be overturned

We just won the sec championship last year. I'm worried about our oline, it's awful.
QB will figure itself out Milroe just isn't a fit for Kalens system.

Think we got a couple of real good ones in Carroll and Lloyd. DeBose could be as well. Just hope they are ready sooner rather than later

1. Our coach is soft. He let a player tell him no on national tv.
2.I was born in the 70s get over yourself.
3. If Sark can take his paid high draft prospective qb off the field and put a freshman on it because his qb wasn't playing well any coach can. Quit giving me that shite.
4. None of our loses were to good teams, this was an underperforming team led by coaches that didn't game plan and couldn't adjust. The same plan we used against OU was the same game plan we used against Michigan.
5. In the NFL a coach took his number 1 draft pick qb and replaced him with the back up. And it helped the #1 draft pick.
If you don't see issues with our development, our recruiting, our coaching not sure what to tell you. Just keep on drinking the kool-aid
Excuses are just reasons to fail. I dislike excuses and some on this board are full of em.

Do you think our AD had no idea Saban might retire? Do you think it’s possible he may have done some background work on this before Saban retired? It’s not like Saban retired and our AD jumped out of bed that day and went through the hiring process from A to Z. Do you think if the process took longer we would have hired your boy Kiffin?

I agree this was one of the low points of DeBoer's early tenure.

Sark is going into his fifth year as the head coach of Texas, and he had his team in the semifinals last year. Texas is fully his team -- he recruited all the players. He's earned the right to make those calls in the NIL era.
DeBoer, who I think is a very good coach, was in his first year at a perennial power with a very unstable roster. Making significant changes could have been a disaster.

This also was one of the most concerning issues with DeBoer's first year. While none of the losses were acceptable, Oklahoma in particular and Michigan were the most puzzling and unforeseen. Until the Michigan game, we'd seen our offense come out on fire after a bye week.

In the NFL players are bound by contracts with teams. That's not the case in college.

Kalen DeBoer hasn't been our head coach for a full year yet. I'd say give him some time to adjust to the situation -- which, frankly, was unprecedented in major college football. And if you have issues with his recruiting, after having just signed one of the top two or three classes in the nation, then frankly I don't know what to tell YOU.
