Lol so everybody is leaving early? I mean I know kids are really dumb these days about leaving early (Wilson, sunseri, Thompson) and not understanding the worth of a good SR year versus getting drafted anywhere after the 2nd round

But damn I’ve got to think not EVERYBODY who is good and eligible will go early to the NFL.

I think Tua should go. Jeudy should go. And that’s it.

Unless of course they are SRs and have to leave

None of the others have really proved they are good enough to be drafted in the first 2 rounds. Yes that includes Moses (who even we can’t say for sure if he’s really any good bc we haven’t seen him play much) and Riggs and Devonta who are really just speed guys as of right now. Al Davis is dead so those guys don’t get drafted high anymore. They’re a dime a dozen in the NFL

Anyway that’s my take. I just hope they get some good advice and don’t blow school off to go be the 3rd WR drafted in the 4th td by the Jets or be the backup ILB drafted in the 5th by the panthers

It would be nice if we had some kids who wanted to come back and redeem themselves.

I am not sold yet on Tua leaving. There will be 5 QBs that look to go in the 1st rd with Tua one of them but his 2 years as a starter have been plagued by injuries and struggles in big games. J Burrows and J Herbert very well could go ahead of him. Eason and Fromm have remained healthy. Tua also seems like a kid that is not in hurry and really wants a title as a starter. The problem though is next year J Fields and T Lawrence will be in the draft.

Still think D Smith may come back as well along with N Harris. The biggest concern will be the OL.

2 years ago everyone assumed that the defensive front 4 of Clemson, who were all juniors but were all considered 1st round draft picks, to leave early, they did not and came back to win the title.

I think how we finish this season will determine the path for a few that may surprise us and return.

He should get the injury insurance and come back. Many of our guys should do this.

This late in the game, not sure that's an option with limited spots and time. Only JuCos on the radar were 2 CBs, with one dropping due to issues.

Gotta trust your depth sometime...

If the standard going forward is we lose basically every marginal/mid-round player to the draft every year, then I’m not too optimistic about our chances of winning another title.

Our starting offense:

1. Tua - Gone (early declare)
2. Najee - Gone (early declare)
3. Jeudy - Gone (early declare)
4. Smith - Gone (early declare)
5. Ruggs - Gone (early declare)
6. Forristall - Returning
7. Waddle - Returning
8. Leatherwood - Gone (early declare)
9. Neal - Returning
10. Dickerson - Returning
11. Brown - Returning
12. Wills - Gone (early declare)

Summary: I included Waddle as a starter to give us 12. We are going to lose at least 6 of those 12. The swinger is probably Wills. He could arguably go either way. So that's either 6/12 or 7/12 departing. And the killer is that none of them are seniors.

Defense:

1. Ray - Returning
2. Dale - Returning
3. Davis - Gone
4. Jennings - Gone
5. Moses - Gone (early declare)
6. Lee - Returning
7. Lewis - Gone (early declare)
8. Diggs - Gone
9. Surtain - Returning
10. McKinney - Gone (early declare)
11. Battle - Returning
12. Carter - Gone
13. Eboigbe/Young - Returning
14. Mayden - Gone
15. Harris - Returning
16. Benton - Returning
17. Barmore - Returning

Summary: Yes, there are a whopping 17 players I have included on the starting defense thanks to injuries and all the packages we rotate through. We are losing 7 or 8 of those 17 guys, depending on what Moses does.

So if you count 29 starters, as I have above, we are looking at losing 13-15, depending on what Wills and Moses decide to do. With as many as 10 early departures.

TL;DR: It doesn't look good.

Again, I know it’s selfish to say guys shouldn’t get paid but it’s just ridiculous to think that every player we have that’s worth a damn won’t stay 4 years. That’s just not a sustainable model. Especially when you throw in injuries and staff turnover.

This run-down is also worst-case scenario.

So you have 10 early declares, and the record for 1st round from a single school is what? 6?

And that was off better teams than this.

Sure fired first rounders:
Tua/Jeudy

Marginal:
Smith/Lewis/Leatherwood

2nd round and beyond:

Ruggs- fast but needs to polish route running
Moses- needs to get a healthy year back under his belt
McKinney- great in run support, needs to improve in passing game.

One has elite speed and the other catches everything thrown his way. That matters.

I could see Najee going either way. He's had flashes of brilliance but has also been inconsistent.

Tua will be one of the top players chosen, he gone.

No one on the OL has shown enough to be guaranteed a high draft pick. Leatherwood maybe but it's not a given like our past LTs.

Isn't Moses' father an attorney? I could easily see them making the long term play and coming back to raise his stock even higher.

My 2 cents based on the premise that you go if you are 1st round...other wise stay

Definites: tua jeudy ruggs wills mckinney

I don't see leatherwood as a 1st round pick yet. I don't think he is quite ready and i don't think NFL teams want a 1st round build into guy. Left tackles in 1st especially have to be day 1 starters

Terrell lewis...he has played 2.5? games until this yr. And not a full yr this yr. His combine numbers interview will benefit him but i think this the GM that OKs his first round pick is a late team that can gamble on a player that has an an injury history...i think he could be top5 next yr ..or injured.

Moses. Same with Terrell. He was good last yr but was he 1stb round? and even nowb with a not having played this yr.

Devonta great receiver but the reality is that there are only so many 1st round picks and only a hand full will be wrs

Najee. Good running back and ib think is underrated here ...heart balance and toughness but...RBs in 1st round seem to need to be elite. Though i don't know that he can improve his position by staying

If they are willing to go the Mack route of "any money is better than no money" well...then all the above could easily be gone

Both Tackles have been outstanding this season and are talked of as top 50 picks at worst.

Wills is actually outplaying Leatherwood...
