I want to see what ive always wanted to see, but never have. We are going to get up big and the starters will be pulled. I want to see the 2's get a chance to play the game like its 0-0 instead of out of reach. I want the play calling to stay aggressive the whole game, and i want to see the 2s trying to score and the 2s on defense trying to stop it like its to save the national title game. and if the 2s are too good, i want to see the same thing with the 3s

thats what always got me with saban, the mixed message that you should be giving 110% every play, unless we are up then we will let up in the playcalling. Thats the opposite of relentless, and i want to see a relentless team. Thats how you instill that killer nature in the 2s and 3s, they need to play that out int he games when they get the chance, and mop up time is when they are in the game. And its not bad sportmanship. If your 3s are still boatracing the other teams starters, then the refs need to call the game.

Under DeBoer at Washington for 2 seasons the backup QBs threw a total of 37 passes.

In the past two season backup QBs threw 100 passes. That includes some injury issues, but DeBoer doesn't let his backups throw much. Part of that is that Washington doesn't have a lot of blowouts. Last year they didn't win any of their last 10 games by more than 10 points.

I dont think teams are using motion to get guys open anymore

What? . If you are not using motion to get guys up to speed ( plus see the type of coverage) , to keep guys from getting jammed at the LOS or to flood zones, you are not a very creative OC

Yes im aware you can do all those things with motion. Im saying that motion is more important for identifying coverage than for scheming one guy open. It actually makes it easier for the defense if you are constantly getting the ball to a guy in presnap motion. It should be used to effect and predict the defense moreso than it is to get the motion guy open. Some teams wont even have the play called before the motion guy identifies the defense. QB will break the huddle with one play for man, one play for zone, and a hot read.

Georgia will be the first indication of where we are.

It will but I've accepted the fact that UGA is like Bama under Saban where it's going to be extremely difficult to have even a modicum of success against them. If we lose, I'll accept it but if we win, there will be trolling the likes of which you've never seen.

Losing to the barn, LDU and Tennessee is where the line is drawn. No excuse for that.

Motion is used for many many things besides reading a coverage. That has been around for ages

A modicum of success? Georgia's really good, but not the unstoppable juggernaut/Alabama clone you're painting them to be. When they're not purely out-talenting the other team, they don't exactly coach circles around their opponent. OSU taking them to the wire a year or two ago with similar talent and a not so great Bama team pushing them around on both sides of the ball in Atlanta for nearly 4 quarters should make that pretty clear.

A Bama win on September 28th will scare the absolute shite out of Kirby. He'll be fully aware his crimson nightmare is far from over.

He sounds really confident speaking in interviews. I think there’s a calm about this team in terms of their trust of the coaching staff.

I almost wonder if the last few years of Saban if Saban had to take a step a back due to his age because it almost seemed as though our coordinators were their own entity in terms of relationships in comparison to Nick Saban.
The players loved Nick, but didn’t seem to get along with the coordinators while with DeBoer they all are working together and all have a great relationship.

Timely passes hitting receivers in stride.

Killer instinct to put the game away early on both sides of the ball.

Lots of good points in this thread that I agree with, including the idea that just because we are ahead we should pull into a shell. These guys get paid now, let's stop pretending this is a gentleman game. Winners keep their jobs, losers sell insurance.

but technically I'd like to see more aggressive competition for the ball from the DB's. For years we practically had to crane kick the DB to get the ball while our guys seemingly let them catch it and try to tackle them after. I'd also like to see is be more aggressive cutting the route and intercepting. I realize you have to make good choices there, be aware of who's over the top. but you can't do this in the game unless it's being pushed in practice. We aren't the most talented team on the field in college football (not this year anyway). We need to start thinking more like the hunter.

Bama never had an equal under Saban. They'd lose to teams, but no one was ever consistently unbeatable. UGA could only beat Bama one time in the past 15 years and that was after Bama lost their top 2 WRs.

Offense

2nd and 6 or less. We've been behind the sticks for 3 years requiring the QB to make miracles. There's only so much headache medicine.

Keep the QB clean. 49 sacks taken last year. For reference, Tua took 26 in his whole career. Everything from holding the ball too long to slow developing plays to dudes getting whipped up front. That ain't it.

30-35 carries for Miller and Haynes in whatever distribution makes you happy. Plus mop us duty for the others. Yes I eventually want Milroe's legs in the action but shouldn't need them Saturday.

Adams, Williams and Odom all get their feet wet.

Defense

Generate pressure with 4. This is the shakiest secondary since before Saban showed up. The pass rush really needs to help these guys out.

Can the defense get off the field?? Last year the defense saw 64 snaps on average. It's going to be gross on Saturday. I'd like to see the defensive snaps closer to 50.

A return to toughness.

We got soft the last few years under Saban.
