The bottom list being in no particular order is killing my OCD... LOL

I'm really surprised how bad a&m is. Let's hope they continue the trend this weekend and we can light up the scoreboard on them.

It's in order of rank, just split out by SEC East/West.

Listened to Dusty and Danny on ESPNU Radio this morning and they ranked their Top 12. I got out of the car before they finished but this was what I heard:

1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Ohio State
4. Georgia
5. Michigan
6. USC
7. ???
8. Kansas

ETA: LSU over Tennessee? Interesting.

Biggest thing is Tennessee hasn't played a defense with any sort of a pulse yet. Originally, it looked like Pitt might be one, but we've learned since then that Pitt's defense is mediocre at the very best.

Add to that how bad the defense looked against Florida and even Pitt pre-Slovis injury, and there's some doubt there. Their other 2 games were 2 of the worst teams in FBS (Ball St/Akron), so almost nothing can be taken from those.

I just don't think LSU can hang with them.

Their offense is putrid. It's entirely predicated on Daniels scrambling after his WRs get zero separation.

At some point I watch and wonder what teams are doing allowing Daniels to scramble when he clearly does not want to throw. But it keeps happening, so I'm missing something

It really comes down to whether Daniels 1st read WR is open or not, I think. Tennessee's secondary is putrid (and they just lost their best CB for the season, and he wasn't really "good") and LSU's WRs are (should be, at least) pretty good. But man, Daniels makes freshman Jalen Hurts look like Tom Brady staying in the pocket. That guy barely even makes it to his first read.

I honestly wouldn't be shocked if Tennessee won 41-24 or if Tennessee lost 31-28 or something.

LSU clearly has some dudes to rush the passer, but hooker probably negates that a bit. In the past they were really vulnerable to QB runs themselves since they never played gap sound. Did not get to watch much of last week's game to make any judgement.

I don't think he does make it to his first read half the time. If the defense does something he isn't expecting post-snap he immediately tucks and runs.

Utah #9 after UF loss. Guess it’s that bad for PAC 12

SOG!

Saw you made a username at 11W recently to talk about this as it was brought over.

Can you tell me what the main factors are for the special teams calculation? It may be easier just to explain why the calculation has Bama as better than OSU?

I have no reason to think it's wrong, but I also have felt OSU's STs has been pretty good this season so they seem low.

Thanks for the work as always

Haha yes, I saw on the janky site I used that clearly someone had linked it there so I went to look and there it was.

Well it doesn't, not this week. OSU is #1.

Special Teams is straight off of FEI. I don't do anything else with it, so it's essentially whatever their formula is. I'm considering taking only pieces of it as I don't think some of their ST inputs matter nearly as much as others.

Was more just asking why Bama's STs are ranked ahead of OSUs.

Ok that makes sense but I'm still confused about FEI's rankings. Oh well some answers better left unknown

Here is the breakdown of STs

FEI Special Teams

I don't know anything about Ohio State's so can't speak to that. Alabama's is very high because of
(a) FG kicking
(b) Kickoff returns against being non-existent
(c) Extremely good punt returning

Personally, I'm not sure how these are spread out to get the total. Opponent field goal efficiency shouldn't be included at all, IMHO, as you have nothing to do with it.

Kick returns at this point are almost non-existent and even across the board, so that means a small amount.

Kick making, punting and punt return seem like the biggest value changers in a game these days in terms of field position/yardage, to me.

Ohio St always ranks high in this stuff till they actually play a good team.

And to be honest, Max Johnson was probably giving them a slight boost. Neither is particularly good but Haynes King looks like an FCS Quarterback
