Yeah, #41 (or is it #42?) has looked very impressive the last two games. Very explosive to the backfield.

42 is Pierre and he looked good as well. 41 is Nikhai Hill-Green. Transfer from Colorado. I watched him on a few plays, and he was shedding blocks, and meeting the runner at the LOS.

Yeah, they both have shown a lot of promise in the last two games. I hope they can continue to develop and get better.

He needs to be on the field for the majority of the Georgia game.
Put Jefferson in on obvious passing downs.

Not sure why OP is getting downvoted. When UGA needed to score against Tenn, they lined up and pounded it. Kirby plays big boy football and they have a new QB. Fully expect them to make us prove we can stop the run after FSU pushed us around

Let's keep our dominance of UGA going

All that is to say, the run defense was not bad against Wisconsin by any measure. But it was not a strength of our team Saturday either. It was ok. It will need to be better for us to have a good shot at beating UGA, who has more talented backs and, at certain spots, better OL. We will have to be more successful in short yardage run defense, get some negative plays, and continue to limit explosives.
I get all of that. The question is can we get 3, maybe 4 stops in this game, or tighten up in the red zone, forcing them to kick FGs while we simultaneously wear their asses out with our passing game?
Remember the last time UGA faced a Bama team with 2 really good WRs and an accurate QB?
Because Pepperidge Farm remembers. And we don't just have 2 WRs ,...we have 4

If we don't learn to play assignment football on defense (we STILL haven't) when the QB runs any kind of read option type stuff similar to Malzahn's shite we are gonna get chewed up by everyone on the schedule.

Last year's game plan in the first half was incredible then for some inexpllicable reason, they let off the gas and played not to lose. Hopefully if Bama gets up, there is NO letting up off the gas.
Last year, Georgia in the 2nd half made defensive adjustments and Alabama’s defense couldn’t get a stop.

Correct

Also correct, but left out “Georgia in the 2nd half made offensive adjustments as well, and Wommack did not and continued to run the same pre-snap look every single play while UGA carved his defense up.”

I think when this is brought up there should be a caveat added. Georgia was playing with 4 downs the entire second half. They were stopped on 3rd down 5 times in the second half. Now, they did go 5/5 on 4th down, but under "normal" circumstances 2-3 of those 5 3rd down stops would have been punts

Just like Wisconsin, Georgia is going to anticipate that we are hyper focused on stopping the run. They will open up throwing the ball to try to take away any potential momentum from us getting an early three and out, and put momentum into their crowd. They are hoping we will panic and collapse again when we get down and the home crowd goes into a frenzy. It will be slants and probably some early deep shots, which are, unfortunately, very likely to be completed. Our only real hope is that their qb is too amped and over throws receivers a couple of times. Otherwise, we would probably be smart to sell out to stop the passing game. Get hands up to tip slants, play up over the top in coverage. If they get some momentum, anticipate a deep ball and pin our ears back and go for a sack.

You might be surprised to find out that Georgia is only marginally better than our heavily criticized run game
Georgia: 4.4
Bama: 4.3
Now UGA has probably played the toughest defensive opponent thus far, but Bama has played 2 Power 5 opponents to Georgia’s 1

Exactly as predicted. Let’s see if Bama can respond

I don’t think ga ran it enough, especially early in the game. I’m glad they got cute a couple of times instead of just lining up and running it.

Agree with you. Got away from what was working.
Likewise, I was surprised Bama didn’t attach the edge more in the 2/3 and shorts in the 4th quarter. Worked earlier and they just stopped.
