How much would all this suck if we still had Avery.

Losing to Norfolk was a blessing.

We have a real Coach now. So excited for the future of Bama basketball.

It'd be a nightmare

It was, and I'm excited, but it's still up in the air how Oats will coach in a league like the SEC against a roster of resumes like the league has coaching.

Hopefully it works out.

Gene, being as objective as I can be, I think it’s a fortunate thing that Auburn didn’t make it to the Finals because honestly I think Tech would beat the hell out of Auburn just like they are going to beat the hell out of UVA. If Owens plays, UVA has no chance.

Bama faithful, remember this: Chris Beard has been a head coach at the D1 level for all of 4 seasons. Nate Oats can maybe do that too. Let us hope.

Beard is an amazing coach no doubt.

In Nate Oats 4th season as a College HC he had buffalo ranked 13th. That's pretty impressive.

Buffalo had never even been to the NCAAT before 2015. They had a horrible basketball program.

Honestly, I think it would be a tossup very similar to the UK game. Tech turns it over a lot + is not an elite efficiency offense which is exactly what AU has killed (KU/UNC/UK) but doesn't offensively rebound

On the flip side Tech would absolutely strangle AUs offense. Similar to UK and no idea if players could go unconscious again

I'd choose Tech but I don't think it would be a blowout

Maybe we aren't as much of a longshot to get Beverly as it appeared.

Also he is from Detroit. Pretty sure Oats has connections out there.

That NIT game vs Norfolk State was the first time I’ve ever rooted against Bama in any sporting event. It felt very strange. I remember fist pumping when Norfolk hit a late 3.

We all knew our b-ball program was going nowhere under Avery and what did a win vs an 8 seed in the NIT mean? Nothing. A loss put us on the fast track to firing CAJ and that was for the best. Most would see a true sports fan as always rooting your team on no matter what but in reality a true fan was rooting for us to lose that one...it’s basically like Cleveland rooting for their squad to lose this season so they can get the first pick to get Zion.

I'm with you 100%. Before the game I hoped we would come out as a different team, closer to the one we saw vs Kentucky and Tennessee, and blow out Norfolk State and go on to do well in the NIT and build toward next year.

I had very little hope this would happen though, and in the second half when we were struggling vs a team we were favored by 16 points against, I no doubt started pulling for Norfolk State because I was pretty confident that the loss would get Avery fired.

Just look at the way Avery runs a transition/finishing drill vs the way Oats runs one.

Unreal.

The more I hear, the more confused I am that Avery won as many games as he did

I have thoughts on watching each...

On Averys: Is anyone gonna dribble and is anyone gonna give Max Effort? Whole lotta jogging and halfassing.

On Oats: Love that he has a defender and pushes his guys.

not taking up for AJ as I am glad he is gone. This looks more like a running condition type drill then a fast break drill as they are doing it against air.

Yeah. These are 2 completely different and very common drills. We often ran something very similar to both in HS and if I ever get into coaching I’d run both as well as they are good drills for different reasons. I’ve seen videos of Avery running something similar and I’m sure Oats has something close to what you see in that video of Avery’s drill. Nate Oats probably pushes his guys harder, but I wouldn’t try to compare two very different drills.

ETSU’s Steve Forbes was involved in Arkansas opening, source told @stadium . Met with administration in Iowa City — where he was grieving the loss of his father, source said. That would explain the confusion about the inaccurate reports regarding Fran McCaffery and Arkansas.

Almost done deal at this point. Happy with it. Our BOT almost screwed this whole thing up. I believe the AD saved it.
