If we get him,can you imagine us beating all those big time basketball schools for an out of state 5-star? Oats has brought us a long way in a short time. I did not expect this when we hired Oats.

All of the things I harped on are coming to fruition: Midwest coaching origins, five hour radius recruiting, international recruiting...it's beautiful man. All we're missing is the occasional Midwest gymrat.

I'm thrilled to see that it looks like Bediako is going to end up at Bama after all. It was looking grim a few weeks ago. Though, we were looking pretty rough when those rumors started.

Never made any sense to me.
Been recruited hard for 2+ years by a couple dozen programs. Trimmed his list down to five like six months ago and he still needs to see how they perform over the course of 1-6 games during one tournament with randomized opponents before deciding?

I agree. I wonder if he is trying to drag it out long enough to see if some guys from some other schools he is considering go pro or not.

Well the only one of his finalists who isn't in the tournament is Duke, and the rest have all been locks to make the field for a while, so if he's waiting to see who goes pro he might as well have just said he'd make an announcement sometime in late April. Honestly the whole thing is kind of odd at this point. The national recruiting guys are unanimous in their confidence that we have this wrapped up, so I really don't see any point in him dragging it out. The week between the conference tournaments and first round games seems like a perfect time to make an announcement but it appears he isn't going to do that. If he's actually going to base his decision on who makes the deepest run in the tournament then I don't even know what to make of that kind of thought process. It would be bizarre to say the least.

Bediako better not drag it out too long because some good experienced players are entering the biggest transfer portal ever. We are busy with the tournament now, but come April, no doubt we will be exploring that portal.

Exactly.
And in no way do I mean this as a negative towards a 19 year old kid that is making possibly the biggest decision of his life to this point, but that is a really questionable way to make this decision.
Determining where he will go to college for the next 1-4 years while spending countless hours with teammates, coaches and support staff with the hopes of getting the coaching/teaching to improve his ability to play professional basketball and earn generational wealth by selecting the team that performs the best with a roster that will look different by the time he has his first practice. Somebody in his family should advise him against that if that is indeed the case.
Or maybe he does already knows where he's going and he's just delaying it so he can have a big announcement during the NCAAT?

And then there is also the reports we heard a month ago or whenever that was, that we kind of mutually distanced ourselves. That could actually still be true, because the staff has known for a while now that the portal was going to be crazy.
But when a guy like Branham puts in a CB just three days ago, it does make me think Bediako will be committing to us. Branham is arguably the best CB guy on 247.
