I feel pretty good about our chances with Bediako. Bama has seemed to be the heavy favorite for awhile now.

It sucks we aren't getting Houstan, but just think about how crazy it is that we were this close to adding the #8 overall player in the country to our class that already has the #9 overall player in the country and two high ceiling four stars.
Oh, and we still have another five star on the board that we are seemingly in the drivers seat for in Bediako along with another high ceiling four star combo guard that you just know Oats is drooling over being in his system in Cardet.
Optimism, morale, momentum and expectations for this program are at a pretty crazy level for a team losing its lottery pick PG and coming off a 16-15 season.
Love this staff.

Well we can't win them all, still a phenomenal job by the staff.
Extremely pleased with the progress so far. We seem to be headed in the right direction. I can't wait to see what the program will be under Oates and co year 4-5. Full roster of his recruits.

Michigan now has the #1 class in the country.

Michigan is #1 with 66.87 points.
Adding Bediako and Cardet to our class would put us at 66.94 points.

I wonder if the staff will send out another committable offer to someone now that Houstan is off the board.
It seemed like we would have absolutely taken Houstan, Bediako and Cardet if we could have gotten them all to sign. Do we stand firm now with just Bediako and Cardet or do we try and sign another?
I think we should definitely be looking at another option for a 4 or a 5, because if Bediako ends up elsewhere we would be pretty thin in the frontcourt. We could always go back to the transfer portal for someone too.

This is a bummer. Would have been nice to add a sharp-shooting 4 in this offense.

Yeah, for sure. A 6'8"-6'9" stretch four that many in the industry have said is the best long range shooter in the class and is still only 17 years old.
Houstan will be a 10+ year plus NBA guy. He kind of reminds me of a Michael Porter Jr type of player.

Grad transfer IMO if they want to use the scholarship. No sense in reaching if you don't have to.

I think that is the most likely outcome too and not a bad way to go.
I would be all for using that scholarship on Moussa Diabate, but it doesn't really feel like he's all that interested in us tbh.

How good of a fit would he be though? He's a lot like Donta in terms of skill set, but he doesn't seem to have much, if any, face up potential. A top 20 player is a top 20 player though and he's a fantastic rim protector, which is something we sorely missed last year. I just don't want to see us end up reaching for a borderline P-6 type player just to fill a scholarship.

Honestly not real sure about his abilities on offense, but he seems like he could become a DPOY candidate. I haven't tracked him that closely in the past 4-5 months because it really seemed like there wasn't much smoke between us. And as far I know there still isn't.
Saw something a week or two ago about him playing in one of those weekend AAU/travel ball tournaments and supposedly he was easily the most dominant player that weekend.

Then he’s a great fit. Don’t know much about him, but that’s all I need to know
I feel like at the pace we play, that a rim-running, rim-protector is the perfect fit for us. A big that can space the floor vertically on offense and block shots on the other end would be sweet in this offense regardless of their lack of a perimeter game. A faster offense means more transition offense (rim-running bigs for lobs) and transition defense (rim-protectors for transition layups). It’s why I absolutely hate that Hall couldn’t have just one season with Oats. He’s a first-round pick if that happens IMO. He would have put up insane stats to go with his insane length and athleticism.

Yeah, I think we are a great spot for any big that has some legit athleticism. The ideal candidate will have the athleticism to go along with the perimeter game/outside shot, but a rim racking, rim protecting big like Donta Hall would also be a great fit imo.

He looks like he's got a pretty solid offensive game. He's big, strong, and moves well around the basket. He just looks like a dude who is going to be 90% dunks and free throws. His shot actually doesn't look awful, but his shooting motion is really slow so he's got to be wiiiiide open to ever do anything with it. He doesn't dribble or pass very well from what I can tell either. Completely agree about the DPOY potential though. He's an animal on that end. Great shot blocker and physical presence.
I'd love to have him. He's a beast. We'd just have to figure out how to use him.

All this excitement and interest in the program by both fans and recruits and really no hard results yet on the court. I get a woody thinking what the recruiting looks like after a couple of Sweet Sixteen years back to back. As long as Nate keeps his staff together, this is about to be one helluva fun ride.

If he starts translating that to the court , we better enjoy him or do what it takes to keep him here bc the big boys will take notice

I think with Bama, this is actually a chicken/egg thing.
Everyone just assumes that if a Kansas/Duke/Kentucky came calling for our coach, he’s gone. But we have more money/resources than most, if not all, of the basketball blue bloods.
We have just never had anyone that they wanted to take from us.

DoNt know if he would be on those schools radar YET but let’s be honest , we don’t have the tradition , commitment , rabid fan support , love from the media , success on the court as those you mentioned plus we are a football first school... it is what it is
