Too bad. Aside from needing to work on his shot he has a nice looking game. Definitely the kind of big, versatile guard Oats seems to prioritize.

Derrian Ford recently talked about the schools that are recruiting him in a 247 article
quote:

Alabama: "I went over to visit their school and watched the Alabama vs LSU game so that was amazing. We got a chance to bond with each other, we played a lot of games, got a chance to meet with the players and the whole coaching staff and I just got off a Zoom call with them. It was amazing. They just talked about what their campuses provide."

Arkansas: "We talk a lot. They’re bigger than basketball, from the talks I have had with them. They’re bigger than basketball so that’s a great thing. They really focus on you more than what you can do on the court. They focus on your education so that’s great, in my eyes."

Auburn: "We’re building a stronger bond every day we speak with each other. Same thing, they focus on more than just basketball, they focus on what they can do off the court for you."

Baylor: "Baylor was my first offer so we just have been communicating a lot and building a stronger bond since June 15th came and they have been able to contact me more. It’s just been amazing."

Florida: "Florida wants me to come there and visit also. It’s a lot of visits they want me to attend to. I’m just loving it, me and my family are happy about it and me and my family pray that the Lord let’s us live to see those days."

Georgia Tech: "Been talking about building a relationship."

Purdue: "Just been talking about building up bonds."

Texas A&M: "Texas A&M wants me to come up there and visit and have been talking about building bonds."

Texas Tech: "Texas Tech was one of my latest offers so I haven’t been able to talk with them much but from the conversations I had they are looking forward to me coming on a visit and want to build a stronger bond with me."

Baylor honestly worries me the most as a Razorback fan

I've never heard of him. His 247 profile shows him as unranked and only having a TCU offer. That top 10 suggests he'd be a top 100 recruit though. He's from Little Rock so maybe our resident Arkansas fan can offer some info.

It is a strange case, I don't believe he has the offers to all those schools. He is probably the best player in the state of Arkansas currently (Jalen Ricks at Oak Hill is from the state and above him). ESPN has him as the 44th ranked SG in the country. Haven't seen a ton of him but from what I can tell he is more of a slasher and I don't believe you would want him playing anything but the two or maybe the three in a small lineup. Hard to give much more than that, Musselman seems to have alot of other guys higher on his board so we don't get much info on him from our guys.

It feels like in general these Arkansas kids don't get the respect they deserve but it is getting better. The '21 class is very meh compared to most years though.

Ohio State. I just placed my FutureCast in for Malaki Branham last week in favor of the Buckeyes and while I am not entirely confident in my prediction, we will know very soon thanks to him setting his commitment date for tomorrow.

If there is one program that has just as good of a chance as the Buckeyes, it is Alabama. Very rarely do we ever see a Bama-OSU recruiting battle, at least on the hardwood side, but thanks to Nate Oats and assistant coach Bryan Hodgson’s connections, Alabama is not just a suitor but a potential landing spot for him.

Baylor, Cincinnati, Louisville and Xavier have also been discussed as potential landing spots. I will stick with OSU but the Tide are not too far off, either.

There definitely is a chance. Bruce Pearl has secured a five-star commitment the past two recruiting cycles and I don’t expect for that to change in 2021. Jabari Smith, who is the son of former LSU standout Jabari Smith Sr., visited the program over the winter and holds the Tigers high up within his school list. Tennessee is a school to watch, as is his father’s alma mater, the in-state Georgia Bulldogs, and North Carolina, the latter of which just offered.

Playing alongside him on the travel circuit this summer is JD Davison, the most explosive guard in the game. The two have developed great chemistry that I bet Pearl is selling to both in keeping them together in college. Davison is not anywhere near a decision, but if he were to produce a final five, it would include the Tigers, along with Alabama, Kansas, LSU and Memphis. Auburn holds my FutureCast for him, but I am not counting out its in-state rivals, the Tide, or LSU.

One of the top players in the class of 2022 is point guard Jaden Bradley. The 6-foot-2 floor general who is a native of North Carolina is currently ranked as the No. 9 overall prospect in the class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Given his size, feel for the game, ability to score, and general skill level, Bradley has excelled on the court since his freshman year, and overall, he feels he continues to improve.

“Throughout the season I think I got better as a player and as a teammate,” said Bradley. “We had bumps in the road, but at the end we put it together and won a state title.”

On the recruiting trail, Bradley has collected a major amount of scholarship offers. Programs such as North Carolina, Michigan, Alabama, Florida, UCLA, Louisville, NC State, Auburn, Kansas and Wake Forest have all offered Bradley a scholarship at his early stage.

Because he is such a wanted recruit, Bradley said the way his phone was buzzing on June 15 was nuts.

“It was crazy,” said Bradley of the first day coaches could call. “A lot of coaches contacted me. They were calling and texting me. I am just blessed to have all of those coaches show interest in me.”

Bradley continued, “All of the schools that have offered have made me a priority. They continue to contact me multiple times per week and let me know that they want me to come to their school.”

Currently, no visits can be taken, so Bradley and his family haven’t given great thought to that process, though the plan is to make numerous visits once they are allowed so he can get a feel for the campuses as well as getting to know the coaches recruiting him.

For now, Bradley and his parents are simply taking it all in on the recruiting trail and not rushing into anything. While there is no hurry, Bradley does know what he will be looking for in a program when the time does come to ultimately decide.

“I am mainly looking for a family environment,” said Bradley. “I want to go somewhere I can be for a couple of years where I can grow on and off the court.”

Bradley continued, “Also the offense they run will be important. I am looking for an offense that fits me. Is it fast paced, is it slow paced, I will be looking for a good system fit.”

When asked what system he feels fits him the best, Bradley said, “I think a fast-paced system where the coaches let the players play a little bit is best for me. Also, I want to go somewhere that puts their guards in a lot of ball screens where they are willing to push the tempo and get up and down the court.”

One of the toughest and more productive forwards in the 2021 class, Michael James has taken the first step towards making his college decision. A four-star prospect found within the Rivals150, James has decided to cut hist list to a final eight.

“I feel like me and my parents have the best relationships with these staffs and I feel like I have the best opportunity to come in and have an impact right away and have success with these schools,” James said regarding his condensed list. “I am looking to make a decision sometime in August because of the pandemic and it looks like we won’t be able to visit any schools.”

Who made the cut is a mixture of national powers and those close to his Orlando locale. After seeing his recruitment blossom this spring, James will play his college career at Alabama, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Louisville, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, USF or Virginia Tech.

The 69th rated prospect in America, James brings great toughness and versatility to the floor. He is a two-way producer that immediately impacts the game thanks to his instincts, energy and physicality around the basket. Capable of playing arguably up to three separate positions in the half-court, James’ continued progressions as an all-around ballplayer should allow for him to contribute as an underclassman in college.

Look for a commitment from James within the next six weeks. Due to the ongoing shutdown on recruiting, James will be forced to commit without taking the five official visits that he may have used during his senior year if it wasn’t for the pandemic.

Ohio State snags a versatile, tough-nosed wing that should fit Chris Holtmann’s system like a glove.

Headed back home next fall, Branham gives the Buckeyes the fourth-rated class nationally and the tops in the Big 10 with space for at least one more.

When it comes to the 2021 class and the underrated talent coming out of it, one name that comes to mind is Florida native and forward Alex Fudge. The 6-foot-7 prospect plays with Team Parsons and had himself quite the summer last year and it dragged onto the high school season where he drew himself national recruitment.

The dynamic two-way forward finds himself as a national priority and many see him as one of the most polished forwards in the class. two months ago, he said that "Texas A&M, Texas, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Iowa State, and USC are amongst the schools on me right now." Now, that list has expanded, drastically.

Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Vanderbilt, Miami, Arkansas, Arizona State, have all offered since then with the most recent offer on that list coming from Eric Musselman during a virtual call with Fudge. Amongst the other virtual visits, he's completed: Texas A&M, Georgia, Vanderbilt, LSU, Virginia Tech, Iowa State, Iona, others.

He broke down three of those virtual visits with Stockrisers.com:

Iona: "Coach Pitino made it known that I fit his style of play and his system. He told me he wants to develop me and help me get to the next level."

Iowa State: "Iowa State was one of the first high majors to offer, Coach Prohm made it known that they wanted me and Iowa State is the best place to be."

Arkansas: "Arkansas touched on how they want me and how there development and experience between the coaches is tremendous."

Fudge has also landed a handful of HBCU offers, most recently from NC A&T, his thoughts on the HBCU route: “It could be possible if I feel my game would develop and I can develop on and off the court.”

In addition, he says that Auburn is the newest program to show interest in him which makes them yet another SEC school to show interest in Fudge.

Although his focus is on training and playing, Fudge says that he has already started thinking about cutting down his list. He said that he wants to wait until his AAU stuff is done and then he will focus more on researching and cutting down his list. As of now, he doesn’t have any commitment dates or timetables set.
