Disagree about Maui. Last season's team got more comfortable running the offense as the season progressed but the roster just wasn't a fit for what Oats wants to run. This team will take some time to gel due to all the new faces, but should get stronger and stronger as the year progresses because it is tailor made for an up-tempo, free flowing style of play. Regardless of Petty's status we are going to have some major talent. All we lacked was front court depth, and now that concern has been alleviated.

No we are winning. These are my 100% Homer views and you can’t change them.

Props to @BamacoachBryan who put in a lot of work on UA’s 2020 recruiting class. Alex Tchikou is the latest commit he led the charge for. He was the primary recruiter for the rest of the Tide’s class, including 5-star CG Josh Primo

I wonder if NCAA will make exception to increase scholarship numbers for this fall due to cornavirus?

I almost feel like this influx of talent will push Petty out the door. He had a helluva season last year as one of the few consistent (relatively speaking) scoring threats we had and his numbers reflected it. I think it will be much harder to put up that number of shots and 3 pointers this season as there will be many more options on offense.

I think Petty comes back and Reese leaves. I know we have been saying Javian but Reese is a Senior and with Bruner, Tchikou, and Rojas ahead of him he isn’t gonna get any minutes here.

Granted I have only watched highlights, but it seems like Tchikou’s pure potential would have him way above the 84th ranked recruit in the country.
I’m well aware that this doesn’t really matter, etc, etc. Just a little strange.
Also we have some interesting lineup questions to answer. Good problems. If Petty comes back I think we have four locked in starters: Quinnerly, Petty, Bruner, and Herb. It’s sort of nuts that I’m not considering Shackleford a locked in starter, but that speaks to our options with Tchikou, Primo, and maybe even Ellis.
I probably prefer a smaller lineup with more shooting so Bruner, Herb, Petty, Shackelford, and Quinnerly would be my choice as of now.

Davis isn’t going to get any minutes either.

He was ranked 30th on 247 before he reclassified and is 35th on Rivals. He should for sure be way higher than 82nd.

My guess is grinding on in-state kids.
This just didn't happen to be a very good in-state year.

Pettway has been focusing on the 2021 class, he is the lead recruiter on JD Davison, Jabari Smith ect.

Focusing most of his attention on JD Davison and Barry Dunning along with other regional 2021 and 2022 guys.

What a Great Leap Forward for Bama Basketball today.
Only question was can Oats recruit nationally against all the sharks and blue bloods at Alabama to keep the program at a consistently high level?
He proved today He could.
Roll Tide.

Yeah Alabama and Mississippi with Georgia to a lesser extent have always been our bread and butter with basketball recruiting. If that region has the talent for us to put together a good class that fits our needs then we are better served to focus on those prospects simply because we have a better chance with them. Sometimes that talent isn't present though, and I think it will make a huge difference having a dude like Hodgson who can pick up the slack and not only prevent us from having a bad class but land us the kind of class we generally only bring in when the state of Alabama has a deep class with a lot of high end talent. We have multiple great recruiters now instead of just the one.
