I don't think so. Just based off him being so slim and probably needs to learn how to bang down low with bigger players but who knows.

So does this close the door on Petty? I know it’s a business, but I wouldn’t think they would want to process someone this late. Javian or Reese or whoever the unlucky one is would have very few options this late.

The guys on the FB group said Petty is likely gone now.

Staff reached out to him midnight of June 15th.

They are just speculating lol. No one but Petty knows. We can and will push someone if Petty wants to come back.

This decision has absolutely no impact on whether Petty stays or goes. It is the reason that Bama told Nike Sibande to hold off however.

If you look at the recent top bigs drafted, bulk doesn’t seem to be a requirement. Marvin Bagley, Jaren Jackson, Mo Bamba, Jaxson Hayes, and Jonathon Isaac were all very slim and top 10 picks.

So do they anticipate a departure this late or do they anticipate having an extra scholarship to give for 20-21 due to COVID?

The difference is they were all great dominant defensive players and all the guys you named were too 10 players coming out of high school not top 50. I don't know if Isaac and Hayes were top 10 but just from looking at film Alex seems more offensive focused right now.

If we do end up getting Tchikou signed and on campus, I think all my remaining questions of Oats and his ability to recruit have been answered. After missing on his initial top targets, he’s pretty much taken who he wants Hodgson must be an absolute shark on the trail as well.

Agreed - the combination of fit, talent level and ability to compete with good recruiting programs under huge amounts of pressure.........I'm not sure what else I could ask for.

James White was one of my ‘players to watch’ from last month. Scored 16 points at @thetipoffclassi this morning. College programs love his shooting ability, definately a ‘hidden gem’ in the 2021 class.

It kind of scared me the amount of talent that Oats is getting honestly

Finally having a clear style of play is really paying off. They get to sell "this is what we do" rather than "this is what we want to do".

Yep, which is why playing that way last year - through all the chaos and ups and downs and less than stellar personnel fit - was absolutely the right choice.

No doubt about it. Grant and Avery had to recruit with one hand tied behind their backs because they were having to convince kids that the boring, unimaginative way their teams played would change. This staff doesn't have to do that, so they get to actually sell something about the program instead of having to gloss over it.
