Alabama offered four-star sophomore Shaedon Sharpe on Tuesday afternoon, he told @Stockrisers.

The Canadian guard played in the same program as incoming Alabama freshman, Joshua Primo.

Ven-Allen Lubin, a 6-foot-6, 185-pound small forward out of Orlando (Fla.) Christian Prep, stood out at the last weekend's Virtual Player Evaluation Series. Since the event he’s added two high major scholarship offers.

“I think I played great,” the 2022 wing said of his performance at the VPES. “I think I played to my strengths and not my weaknesses because I wanted college coaches to see what I can do on the court.”

“My biggest strength is around the perimeter, I’m like a slasher, I can hit shots here and there but I’m mostly good finishing around the basket” he said of his game.

It’s early for the rising junior but Lubin says he says that three schools are prioritizing him.

“One of them is South Florida, Florida and Alabama for sure,” he said.

Lubin broke down what each program has been telling him.

Alabama: “I wouldn’t say much, they just want to stay in contact with me and keep them locked in to build a relationship with them, they say they are really interested in me and would love to have me there.”

Florida: “They would love to have me there, they feel like I would bring them so far, I would be one of the greatest players there and they’re just trying to build a relationship with me and get to know me more. I just like their basketball program, they have a good fanbase, they’re really well known, they have great players there, great coach, great facilities, I just love everything about it.”

South Florida: “They just like my game how I’m pretty consistent every game. I bring a spark every game. The way I play is to grab their attention more to see how valuable I am on the court and they think it’s a perfect fit for their program.”

“I wasn’t expecting so many calls but it was what it was,” he said. “I’ve heard from Alabama, Florida, USF, UCF, Holy Cross, Western Kentucky, Florida State, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Dayton, Virginia, Stetson and Oklahoma State this week.”

As Lubin digs deeper into the recruiting process, he says there are some things he is looking for in a school.

“Pretty much just a good school that I feel like I will be comfortable and it feels like home,” he said. “I don’t really know yet if I want to stay in state or go out of state but I just want to feel comfortable to know where I’m at and to feel safe around the campus and to just have a good environment around me.”

As you would expect with the No. 20 player in the class, Scoot Henderson’s phone started ringing right when the clock struck midnight on June 15th. Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, NC State, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Wake Forest, and Xavier all reached out to the explosive scoring guard within minutes.

Wake Forest and Xavier were the two newest programs to extend scholarship offers to Henderson. NC State and Ohio State are new to his interest list. Alabama, Georgia and Georgia Tech had all previously offered.

Henderson discussed his two latest offers along with a pair of schools that have been involved from the beginning.

Alabama: “We’re trying to build a relationship. I’ve been to their camp and played against a couple of their players. They are nice. They play open and let their guards go. They want to run, but they’ll run a half court set if they have to.”

Georgia: “Tom Crean just let me know they are really interested in me and compared me to Anthony Edwards. He was showing how good Anthony was and he thinks I can get there.”

Wake Forest: “It’s just a blessing to have another opportunity to choose from. I talked to them a few times. They are pretty cool. They play fast and very open.”

Xavier: “They just talked about all their programs’ accomplishments. My cousin played there [Tu Holloway]. Coach [Travis] Steele hit me up just to let me know he’s going to be on me and to stay in touch.”

Henderson is still in the process of working on his game and evaluating the schools that come into the picture. After all, he’s just a month removed from his sophomore year. Look for his recruitment to really take off when travel ball resumes with live periods as he’s one of the most talented, explosive guards in the country in the 2022 class. Alabama, Georgia and Georgia Tech are three of the schools that have prioritized him early, but they’ll have plenty of stiff competition as the process goes on.

We didn’t have a spot for him. I think Nate is comfortable enough going through this season with only 12 if Petty decides to not come back

A bit of a bombshell here. What this means is that college and international players who had previously elected NOT to enter the 2020 NBA draft now have until August 17th to revisit those decisions and potentially enter now. News story coming.

Ah frick. I hope Bruner doesn’t think about re-entering

Based on the fairly strong comments he made previously about his decision to not enter and the respect and relationship he already has with Oats, I feel like he’ll stick with us. Would definitely be a blow to my optimism for the upcoming season if we were to lose him at this point.

A little more clarity:

quote:

“The NBA’s early-entry deadline had been April 26, in anticipation of a June 25 draft, but according to the CBA, players have the ability to make themselves draft eligible by petioning the league in writing “at least sixty (60) days prior,”‘ ESPN’s report claims. “Pending approval from the National Basketball Players Association, that would shift the early-entry deadline to Aug. 17 given the draft has been postponed to Oct. 16.

Important to clarify that after the NCAA withdrawal deadline of August 3rd, any collegiate player who enter the NBA Draft (by August 17th) will be in for good. This is all pending NBPA approval, so nothing official yet until that happens.

Another zoom call with JUCO guard Dashawn Davis and St. John’s this morning, he told @Stockrisers. Staff will zoom with him at the top of the hour.

Former Seton Hall commit also has new interest from DePaul, Alabama, others.

As with many top prospects in the 2022 class nationally, Zocko Littleton’s phone started going off at midnight on June 15th last. A talented point guard with one of the best jump shots in the country, the Georgia native added several new offers throughout the past week.

His most recent offers come from DePaul, Georgetown, Tulsa and Wichita State. Before June 15th, he held scholarship offers from Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech and several mid-majors. He’s previously taken visits to Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Georgia Tech.

Littleton discussed his new offer from Georgetown and the programs he's seen in person.

Alabama: “I love them. They play very fast and shoot a lot of 3’s. I just like how they play there.”

Auburn: “They were at a lot of my games and practices this year, but they haven’t offered yet. I just know they like shooters.”

Georgetown: “[Patrick Ewing] called my dad to offer me, but I’ve been talking to Coach [Robert] Kirby. I like how they play. I like how they let their guards. I watched them play a few times this year because they’ve been showing interest.”

Georgia: “I like how he let Anthony Edwards go this year. Coach [Tom] Crean texts me a lot. He talks to me a lot about point guards and how I could be like Dwyane Wade.”

Georgia Tech: “Its in the city. I can be close to my family. They played pretty well this year. They let their guards go. [Josh Pastner] let Jose Alvarado play and run the team.”

Littleton doesn’t hide from the fact he really likes Alabama right now. The Crimson Tide staff offered him early and have stayed on him consistently ever since. The style of play is a huge draw and a good match for what he does well. As he gets back on the court this summer with the Atlanta Xpress, look for his recruitment to continue to grow with several twists and turns along the way.

It's pretty great to have a true program identity for the first time........really since Wimp was here? We ran a first year, hit or miss version of it last year, but the reason we kept running it even though we probably weren't completely suited for it is absolutely because of stuff like this:

quote:

Alabama: “I love them. They play very fast and shoot a lot of 3’s. I just like how they play there.”

And as we know, he ain't the only one who has said that. Oats knew he needed to establish the program and how we play, even if it was clunky with the initial personel.

If recruits already like you just based on what they get to see on TV, half the battle has already been won because they're already going to be inclined to buy what their recruiter is selling. Guard and wing recruiting should be ez-mode for this staff. Long term the question will be how well they are able to recruit skilled bigs.

Yep. Because under Grant and Johnson, they would try to sell the vision of playing fast, but reality didn’t back it up. Oats is true to his word on that.

Have y'all seen the Schae Cotton documentary coming out?

Good lawd there is no doubt Gottfried is gonna come out of that looking awful. Cannot imagine how crooked that recruitment from JuCo was. Early in his tenure, needed a signature recruiting win, etc.

I don't think a documentary on Gottfried's recruitment of any player he has ever signed would result in him looking good. I can't even imagine some of the bidding wars that went down when him and Stansbury were both after a kid.
