Dunno if the below sounds too good as Bucky to be our coach.

I think he just knows that Bucky's opinion with Trendon's decision is very important, and it is smart to meet with Bucky first, as a show of respect.
Being a HS coach for a long time, Oats knows the importance of a HS coach to a player and doesn't wanna disrespect bucky by ignoring him.
Making a great impression with Bucky will go a long way.

I think he’s just covering his bases so people don’t call him out for hiring Bucky to get Watford and in case his guy from Buffalo gets that head job and he keeps 2 of our current assistants.
If had to bet money, I’d guess he’ll have his guy from Buffalo, Pettway, and Bucky.

Yeah, when he said that, I got the impression he was saying he's willing to hire a high school coach, but only if he deserves the job. He was leaving the possibility open while heading off some of the "he only hired him to get Watford" talk. At that point, he'd never met Bucky, so I'm sure he hadn't even begun to make a decision on it.
