Making top lists was cool though.

I'm not happy about recruiting. Where is the sunshine pumper?? I need some sunshine!

On Court results is the only thing that’s gonna help us land these top guys. I’ve got faith in Oats to fill out the rest of the roster with quality Juco players and Grad Transfers If worst case scenario happens.

Also paying them and not having a shite arena for them to play in. I don't know about Oats' willingness to do what needs to be done as far as paying guys, but the university is 1000% going to start cutting corners on the alleged future Coleman renovation because of the BDS overruns. We will eventually, in 5 or 6 years most likely, get a minor renovation that cuts out 75%+ of the design plans from the original renderings.

You have to understand none of these kids have seen Alabama basketball do shite. How long has it been since Gottfried’s lucky Elite Eight year? Those recruits were probably in diapers. We’ve got to show some improvement on the court for some of these guys to take us seriously.
Avery was able to recruit though. Sexton was a five star. Petty was also five star I think. Petty was originally seen as a possible one and done guy by some folks.

Avery did sign those players after developing a relationship with them, not his 1st year.

Avery was a big name who played in the NBA, coached a team to the NBA Finals, obviously impressed recruits on visits, and probably demanded Coleman get upgraded. We probably should have kept him around another year or 2 just to keep pressure on the arena upgrades.
Then, we signed Oats, who won a few games at Buffalo. no one knows him. He’s probably just happy to be here at a big college, so he’s not rocking the boat at all about a new arena.
With that shytty of an arena, we’ll get one or two 5-star guys every 5 years or so, make the tourney 1-2 seasons every 5 years, & we’ll be sitting here 5 years from now excited about the next small college guy we’ve hired because he “likes to play fast” and “travels a lot to watch recruits”

LOL. This thread is full of Debbie Downers. DD would be proud.
I'm not known for pumping sunshine, but I'm going to give Oats a few more months before I start deciding what he can and can't do.

Saban n Bear has hit a new low. Didn’t think it was possible. I’ll take a ban bet with you right now that Nate wins 20 games this year and makes the Dance.

Who do we have a realistic chance of signing this year.
We should have all known that offering every 5 star under the sun ws a longgggg shot.

Nimari Burnett is the only 5-star we have any chance at now and he’ll probably end up at Michigan if we’re gonna be realistic. The rest are 3-stars and JUCO players

I’ve never seen you be this negative. You stayed positive for nearly all of Johnson’s tenure but have waved the white flag before Oats coaches his first game
Posted on 9/8/19 at 2:48 pm to Bryant91092
I’m coming off as negative I guess
my bad.
Basically here’s how I look at it. Avery could get a lot of good recruits so I was always optimistic with him until it came game time. Then my negativity kicked in bc he couldn’t coach. It’s basically the opposite now. I’m negative bc this 2020 class looks to be in trouble but I fully 110% trust this staff to coach and win games, even with 3-stars and JUCOs

I don't want to do the I told you so thing again but this is why people shouldn't have been running around acting like we signed a Coach Cal class because we made some Top 10s. Because now everyone is acting like this is some huge disaster that we didn't get the kids.
Newsflash, we were never getting them. It's what me and Bryant said 2 months ago. We are the hot name with the fun scheme and the hard charging coach, but that does not matter in the end when you are battling Carolina and Kansas.
Its fine to be excited, but letting your own unreal expectations then make you negative about the state of things is just silly. There is zero to be upset or concerned about right now.

What am I? Chopped liver?
To be fair to these guys, the prime offender stopped posting here when the kids started cutting us off their list. I’m actually quite worried about him. If Bamafan is taking it this hard can you imagine Fever?

Damn it I knew there was someone else in there.
I'm really not trying to be all "see we were right", my bigger point is it's insane to act like things are falling apart because we.....didn't live up to self created insane expectations.

Definitely something to be concerned about right now when we have MAYBE one guy we could feel decent about recruiting-wise. I’m not over here upset bc the 5-stars aren’t coming, I’m just a little frustrated that the guys like Colby Jones, Devion Smith, etc are going elsewhere bc we didn’t really prioritize them since we were going after guys like Timberlake and Beauchamp who blew us off in the end. My problem is we don’t seem to have any backup plans besides a couple guys like Josh Hall or Sardaar Calhoun (who haven’t said much at all about Bama)
Posted on 9/8/19 at 8:04 pm to Bamafan18
I don't care, honestly. The guy knows guys who fit his system. Until that proves false I'm not even going to pay attention to recruiting to be completely honest.
And kids are going to want to see a year of it in action at Alabama before they pull the trigger.
