It's more something coaches do to get a rebuild job turned around faster. Once they get it rolling they recruit more HS kids.

Musselman signed the number 16 HS player in the country last year at Nevada, he was trying to get out but I don't think it was because he couldn't recruit at Nevada.

Musselman was looking at a really bad year in Nevada because he was about to deal with losing his best transfers and his newer ones hadn't panned out.

Yes but that really isn't that different than normal cycles for coaches that purely recruit HS seniors. You are normally always going to run into a "rebuild year" eventually. There needs to be a happy balance but he has already said he mainly did that because he believed it was the best way to win at a school like Nevada.

This is another good point. He knew he had a better shot of success at trying to take kids that didn't pan out at other P5 schools and give them a chance to flourish in his system.

Yeah, people get confused with his recruiting and roster management. His recruiting was never a real issue, especially if you consider you recruit transfers as well. He did have a legit concern with roster management. There was a lot of turnover but I think that is mainly because he isn't afraid to bench talented players if they are not producing.

We are seating very well with Kyree Walker, 5 star from Arizona, thanks to the relationship that Musselman built with him while he was coaching at Nevada.

Somebody is gonna hire Hodgson away as a HC soon. That guy has impressed me as much as Oats so far.

I’m all for eternal optimism, but what has Hodgson done so far to garner being a HC in the near future?

Looks like Oats and Hodgson are in Texas recruiting today while Pettway is in Georgia.

Same here. First time EVER that I'm really not all that fired up about football season coming up. I mean I'll watch and continue to enjoy it as I always have I know, but this is the first year I can remember since Nick Saban arrived that I didn't watch more than 10 snaps of the A-Day scrimmage, nor follow recruiting this off-season. I'm far more excited about the prospects of our upcoming basketball season.

Football is still number one for me and is always going to be. But still at the same time, you know regardless of what happens, Alabama is likely going to be in the hunt for a title. For basketball, it's just anticipation for quality basketball because we haven't seen that.

The problem with Football with me is...we are so dominant that only LSU,Auburn,SECCG and playoffs get me excited. Football is still my favorite but I get much more amped about Basketball right now.

Plus we’re coming off our worse loss in 20 years so that kind of takes some excitement away from football for me

To be honest, I think I'm a little burned out on football. I mean, I love it, and I'll be watching and loving it when we kick off. But, we've seen it. I don't know if Bama will be in the playoffs again, but we know it will be a good team. We're definitely spoiled and I don't want it to ever end. But, it's difficult to maintain the same excitement level when you go past a decade.

But, basketball is unknown. I'm very excited to see the team and how they play. I'm not expecting a deep tourny run or anything this year, but I'm really hoping to see the foundation being built for that kind of program.
