Is Petty on anyone’s draft board right now? I’m genuinely curious because I just don’t think he has the kind of handles for the NBA at the moment. His dribbling is a ton better this year than the past two but still not very good. He’s turned himself into a very good shooter but I would think scouts would want to see him prove that for another full season.

Where was that game?
As for the NBA draft, I'm praying our guys come back for one more year.

My favorite (and the most accurate) NBA mock draft site is nbadraft.net. John Petty & Kira Lewis are not listed at all on the 2020 mock draft.
On the 2021 mock draft, Petty is the 43rd pick and Kira is the 56th pick.

It’s an amateur site and their guys have no connections. ESPN’s has been the best since they bought out Draft Express and hired their guys.

Nesmith out for the year for Vandy. Big blow to them and helps our chances of beating them in Nashville.

If he continues to shoot above 45% from three, they’ll be fine with that one season on tremendous volume. It’s not like he hasn’t proven he could shoot in previous seasons. He was just too inconsistent.
His dribbling isn’t great, but he has developed enough of a dribble to where he can create his own space and sink triples off the dribble which is not something you typically get out of a lot of the “shooters” in a draft. And another positive for Petty is his release is one of the highest I’ve seen, which is why he’s always been able to sink highly contested shots with relative ease.
With his defense looking very solid and his rebounding and motor looking to be a strength of his game, I’d say he’s firmly on draft boards as of now (maybe higher than Kira on some). Whether he stays there or not is a different story. It should also be noted that this draft is looking like the weakest I can ever remember.

I don't know man, Petty is a pretty solid defender who is athletic enough to guard multiple positions and is as good of a catch and shoot 3pt shooter as there is in the country. That is a really valuable skill set for an NBA team even if he can't dribble.

Petty probably has a pretty good chance of being drafted. Those 3 and D types are what everyone wants in the NBA. With his motor, he could probably be pretty valauable coming off the bench and providing a spark and some shooting. I think it all depends on how consistent he is the rest of the season.

quote:It's hard to run an offense if the defense is playing the area that your play is suppose to be run to. Alabama's drive and kick back out for open 3s can't work when there's a defensive man guarding that area. Again, It's a shame that we don't have a good big man to present a threat to the defense's rim protector. Their entire defensive game plan would have had to change.
we did not even run the offense on a lot of plays. The guy with the ball went straight down the paint. We did not even try and loosen the perimeter up with that. HOw many blocks did we have down in the paint.

Guys if we win Wednesday the schedule eases up a little and I think we can make a run.

Wednesday night is huge. We need a marquee win on the resume if we are going to make a run at the tourney

Bama women finally get their first SEC win. Dominated auburn for 3 quarters and won 75-48.

Women's team beat Auburn 75-48. Won't be the only win we get vs them this week....hopefully.

Women seem to be better this year outside of that random first loss. But they gotta win some SEC games. Good start today.
