Really tough to get more comfortable in a new system when half your rotation can't practice throughout the 1st half of the season

I have never seen anything like the injuries our sports programs have had this season.

It took 3 years and a coaching change but John Petty has turned into the player we thought we were getting.

I would amend to 'player we are happy with.' Petty from a talent/scoring potential standpoint out of HS had a much higher ceiling than this.

I blame Avery

He’s shooting 44% from 3.

He’s at 15 PPG right now... maybe he should in the 18-19 range by now? I’d say he’s pretty close to expectations (over the last several games).
Additionally from last year, his assists are up, steals are way up, rebounds are way up, 33% more scoring. Scoring efficiency is up, and.......
oh my gosh I just realized John Petty is our most complete player

Nah not really . . . the only amendment would be whether Petty keeps it up since he's certainly had superb individual games in the past.

If you actually watch the games he's been immense well beyond the accurate 3 pt shooting and scoring.

He's been better on the defensive end: creating turnovers, blocking/altering shots, getting tough rebounds and loose balls in clutch situations.

He's been our best player so far this year.

I'm worried about the game against Penn State.

It would be real nice if Penn State could knock of Maryland tonight. It would make them look even better on our resume, whether we win or lose that game.

Plus, I'd rather play them coming in feeling good about themselves, as opposed to them being desperate for a win.

I think it's better for us if they beat Maryland tonight. Maybe they will overlook us. We play them in a pretty good spot, we will be their 3rd game in 7 days, and the other two were vs top 5 teams.

If they were to lose both they would probably be trying to play extra hard vs us to get a win after dropping two straight.

Penn State ended up winning. I honestly think them winning is better for us. It’s a perfect letdown spot.

However, I doubt we take advantage of their potential lackluster performance.

Saturday is a perfect spot. They are due for a letdown. And Ole Miss beat them earlier in the year. So I think it’s a very winnable game.

Definitely agree that it's better to catch them coming off a big upset win.

Does Penn St have a big interior scoring presence?

I haven't had a chance to watch them.

Penn State would be a nice trophy on the wall but that’s a big ask of this team. We need a big letdown from them and we need to play lights out.

Petty looks like the light has finally come on and he’s working hard at upping his game and it shows. I’m happy for him and proud he answered the call. I have to wonder if Oats had a come to Jesus meeting with him in private to spark this or if Petty did it on his own. Either way, I hope it continues.

I think Oats has been getting on all the guys since he has been here to put extra work in. That’s One Thing I know for a fact Avery didn’t do enough of. I remember Collin telling that story that Avery would kick him out of the gym because he thought Collin was worrying about BBall too much and wasn’t living a normal college life.

He became a leader in the offseason. His shots weren't falling the first few games, but that doesn't mean he needed a spark to from Oats to get started.

Honestly, Petty's transformation began last year. He struggled shooting (mostly because the offense didn't create a lot of catch and shoot opportunities), but he showed marked improvement as a defender and rebounder. He's even better this year. Watching him grow has been fun.

Worth noting with Penn State’s win against Maryland: Alabama gets back-to-back games against opponents who have beaten top five teams this season. Big opportunity on Saturday for the Crimson Tide.

I already used up my free trial for whichever game was on a weird channel earlier in the year. I'll probably turn to the dark web and its viruses, popups, and terrible feed for this one.
