@GoodmanHoops

quote:

My unofficial count of transfer waivers thus far: - 36 have been approved - 4 have been denied - 74 still haven’t been ruled on by the NCAA

This close to the start of the season this is fricking ridiculous/sad/pathetic that this many waivers still unanswered

And now JQ tweeted he’s just having a good day and it wasn’t about the waiver

25% from 3 and 65ish% from the FT line is concerning. I would have liked to have seen some improvement in those numbers from last year. Petty still isn't taking FTs seriously from what it appears. And Reece only shot 3s. That bothers me too. But, the pace was obviously up-tempo so it should be a fun style to watch.

I don't see any reason to think our returning players are going to become much better shooters, especially from the line.

You can improve your free throw shooting gradually (or marginally), but the best way to have a good free throw shooting team is to recruit good shooters. So maybe Shackleford and Bolden help with that (Bolden definitely should going by his career stats).

I think Buffalo was a relatively mediocre free throw shooting team last year, if I remember correctly. Hopefully what Oats can do is to help improve the quality of our looks from 3.

“Relatively mediocre” from the FT line sounds amazing, to be honest.

Fair.

2018-2019 Buffalo: 69.1% FT, 33.5% 3P
2018-2019 Alabama: 66.8% FT, 33.9% 3P

They weren't amazing from the line, but we were miserable.

3P% was nothing special but to be fair they took 969 of them compared to our 688.

But... that’s 975 points via 3 for Buffalo vs 699 for Bama. Over a 30 game schedule that’s 9.2 more points per game. How many more W’s does that translate to?

I'm all for shooting more 3's.

Get up and down, shoot 3's, get to the basket, go the line, etc.

To me the most frustrating moments of last year were when we would post Donta Hall up and throw him the ball down low. Like let's just literally give up the opportunity to score points this trip. Was more interested in a turnover or an ultra low-efficiency 19 foot spot up jumper.

Do you guys listen to Cecil Hurt and Hunter Johnson podcast? They had a basketball podcast today and said in last Friday’s scrimmage Quinerly scored 23pts in 20 minutes. That’s unreal

Yeah I’m going. Haven’t bought my ticket yet. Went to buy it and then got distracted at work and my session timed out and never logged back on. My plan is to show up at about 10:30 Sunday and see if I can buy one in person and if I can’t I will just buy one real quick on my cell phone

yea, I heard someone say he was the best looking player on the court that practice. But that can change from day to day. If he gets eligible, with Kira, Beatle, and Shackleford, that might be the best talent we have ever had a guard.

Anyone read the 538 new RAPTOR player analytics article?

Let's just say it is pretty down on Sexton's rookie campaign

well he was almost 1 yr out of high school when they drafted him, and he really didnt have point guard skills. He was a fast, take it to the rim guard in high school and at Alabama. Not sure why anyone one would expect much to change in one year. Is he still a teenager?

Wimp was just on wjox. he said if they could get Quinerly eligible, it would really help them. He said the jury is still out on how good we will be.
