I believe Ty to have really great potential. Ty also over thinks to the point of being nuerotic. But he will not progress with Grubb. Grubb has no idea how to handle Ty mentally and may have mental issues himself. That is besides the illogcal offense he runs.........I could see Ty going to another school and being very productive.

Ty is garbage. I hope him and Mack both leave. Neither one have pocket presence and Mack has a noodle arm. Don't hype the man up for his one decent drive in garbage time. Also you're an idiot for wanting Ty back.

One of the main differences in that game was Indiana didn’t have a first year starter at QB (OSU and UGA also had 1st year starters).

If Ty hits a wide open Horton on the scramble instead of throwing an almost pick to RW in double coverage and learned how to dive forward once you have the first down (avoids the 4th and 1 debacle and the fumble), that game is a totally different game. 3 plays a more experienced QB probably makes and Bama is leading at half time of that game.

If Ty wants to run it back, I’m game.

Hopefully he learns how to get a first down while running it back.

I’m all for him coming back. We have seen how valuable experience alone is for the QB position. Ty coming back gives us the best chance to win games next year.

I see a lot of posts saying Russell is gone if Ty comes back but I’m not sure about that. There are a ton of experienced QBs in the portal. He isn’t going to be able to go start for a blue blood/playoff team either way next year.

I hope Russell would see the value in being a 3rd yr 1st time starter with 2 years to play, but who knows.

One thing I know for sure, starting an underclassman 1st year starter at QB in this NIL/Portal world against a 9 game SEC schedule is a recipe for missing the playoffs. If we start Russell, it’s a rebuilding year and we need to all agree that DeBoer gets a 4th year with Russell coming back as an experienced starter regardless of what happens next year (excluding a losing season, obviously).

If the kid who left Oregon after 2 weeks only to end up starting at Cal did it Russell can too. I don't think blue blood status is as important to alot of the younger guys as playing time is.

IF we get a new OC; and IF Ty comes back---Ty might look all-world in a new offense with new OC.

A lot of load-bearing IFs on that

One thing I know, unless the offensive line, offensive coordinator, wide receivers, and running backs improve, Ty Simpson isn’t good enough to win a championship on this team. He’s reached his ceiling. Both of these young backups are way more talented than Ty. That’s the quarterback battle for next season. Ty needs to move on

If Ty can get the same psychologist Mendoza uses things could work out. They are both on the spectrum.

An “uninjured 3rd year 1st time starter” Ty Simpson was probably good enough to win a NC on 85% of Saban’s teams. Other than his injury, Ty wasn’t the issue this year.

There are multiple at least somewhat knowledgeable people that have praised him (Film Guy, Joel Klatt, etc.) and he’s been on a lot of 1st round draft boards. Maybe he’s more 2nd round or even 3rd round right now, but saying he’s hit his ceiling while also complaining about all the pieces around him sounds like you’re talking out of both sides of your mouth.

He gone.

To the NFL if he still gets a first round grade, to likely Oregon or UT if not.

Austin Mack aint it

Based off of coming in the 3rd quarter down 20something points against the number one team in the nation? The kid comes in, probably not getting any first team reps and immediately takes us downfield with a couple of darts, and your dumbass is ready to write him off. He faced some blitz packages that confused him and he had a couple of passes where him and his receivers weren’t on the same page. Some of yall were writing off Mac Jones after the Iron Bowl too, so this shouldn’t surprise me.

Based off of what? Austin Mack outplayed him last night. Both of the young quarterbacks outplayed him during the cupcake tuneup game before the Iron Bowl. Yall Ty supporters kill me. It’s time for your boy to move on. I appreciate what he’s done here, and appreciate him even more as a good human, but both of these young guys have WAY more upside than Ty. My wife even asked me last night what haven’t they been playing Mack more because she thought he looked better than Ty.

I agree with this. I’ve even stated something similar last night, but the facts are we have issues on offense and Ty isn’t good enough to cover up some of these flaws. He doesn’t put fear in these defensive coordinator’s with his deep ball. He has a slow release, he doesn’t see open receivers.
And the last half of the season he was getting happy feet. Should’ve been a change at quarterback during the Oklahoma game. How is that talking out of both sides of my mouth?

Hey dude, stop the childish name calling. Ive watched scrimmages and practices not just what he did the other night. He made a couple of decent throws but struggled reading coverages just like he struggles with them in scrimmages and practices. Russell will easily surpass him once he learns the offense.

Haven’t seen Ty Simpson hit a guy 20 yards downfield in stride since the Tennessee game. As far as him not reading coverages, maybe if the coaches you know coached him up and gave him more first team reps, he’d learn how to read those coverages. Dang dude a blind man can see Mack has more physical talent than Ty. And I’m not necessarily team Mack, I want the best guy on the field. I’ve seen enough from Russell to realize he’s more talented than our starter too.

Edit: I will apologize for calling you a dumbass. I’m sure you’re very knowledgeable on some subjects. But writing off Mack was a stupid thing to say.
