I wonder if the staff is keeping an eye on the portal for a OT.

I would think a portal OT and then let the rest duke it out for the open spot.

I just don’t see anybody in the portal right now that I think could make an impact for us. Maybe the coaches have an off the radar guy that they love film on, and that’s fine. But I think whoever else we get out of the portal will pop up after their school holds spring ball.

Still have a handful of upperclassman who are looking at backup roles.
On O-line- Dalcourt entering 4th year. Same with Kight and Bowles.
Defense- Wright entering 6th year, Ingraham 4th, and Khyree is 23 I believe.
That’s not even including guys like incoming 3rd years like Braswell, Kennedy, Q Robinson, Jones-Bell, Story and J Robinson.
Under 85 no problem even including a few transferring in.

Obviously wish he would stay but the days of a a talented kid coming back to be a 3rd year backup are long gone. Only getting RBs and DL to do that. Wish he would move to TE or ILB but look at the positive, the reason he’s transferring is Turner is a stud.

Still need 5 more leaving by my math. And thats just to account for the new signees we already have. Needs to be more than that to add additional transfers.

Update on roster crunch:

2022 Scholarships - 87
2022 Signees - 25
2022 Scholarships + Signees - 112

Departures Needed To Get to 85 for 2022: 27

Exhausted Eligiblity (2)
1. Brian Robinson
2. Chris Owens

Declared for NFL (8)
1. Evan Neal
2. Jameson Williams
3. John Metchie
4. Phidarian Mathis
5. Chris Allen
6. Josh Jobe
7. Slade Bolden
8. Jalyn Armour-Davis

Entered Transfer Portal (12)
1. Drew Sanders
2. Jahleel Billingsley
3. Paul Tyson
4. Shane Lee
5. Jaylen Moody
6. Javon Baker
7. Tommy Brown
8. Pierce Quick
9. Marcus Banks
10. Jackson Bratton
11. Xavier Williams
12. King Mwikuta

Total Departures So Far: 22

Additional Departures Needed: 5

I was relatively unimpressed by Cohen all season. Any chance Jaeden Roberts challenges at LG? Or Ekiyor flips to LG and there’s a battle for right?

I don't think so Cowboy. I have noted your objection though.

The BSC is real. Half the Bama players now in the portal were going to light it up at Bama ....based on the BSC.

5 more is a lock, might be Sabans easiest year in awhile to get below 85.

I believe your correct on easy to get to 85 this cycle. After A-Day Bama might be at 80-83.

Feels like more of an indictment of the overall OL play than a defense of Cohen

How long did Cohen have a wrist injury and didn’t he have surgery? Could have made a difference for him.

I think if someone else really impresses at guard then Cohen will move to OT.
