what about Jason Garrett
?
Why the hate for Jason Garrett? I don't follow the NFL too much, but he had success as an NFL OC, and was an NFL HC for quite a long time. I'm not advocating for him, especially since I don't think he has any college OC experience. But he seems to be universally disdained by most fans.

Because BO'B deployed a predictable, non-creative NFL-style offensive scheme, they assume that any/all OC candidates coming from the NFL would run the same easy to defend crap.

They do tend to be more rigid. Especially those that have spent a longer period of time in the NFL. The perfect candidate, at least in my opinion, has spent time in both college and the NFL.

Garrett's offense is in the exact same prehistoric era of NFL offense realm that BoBs was. Implements no motion, does not hunt for matchups, required long drop backs and WRs to "sesperate and make plays".
He runs the old Norv Turner offense from the 90s and early 2000s, described by an NFL executive as "stale".
TL/DR Jason Garrett would be worse than BoB. Just look at the Giants in 2021 (Garrett) vs 2022 (DaBoll) when their personel was almost the same.

I don't have an issue with bringing in a guy with no previous college experience or very little college experience as long as the guy can coach the QB position properly, is innovative and stresses getting the ball to guys who are mismatches for the defense.

my problem with nfl style is lackadaisical about scoring every possession..today's college football demands score every possessions or dang close..

at this pernt not dogmatic but I want to see 23 o revolve around Justice Haynes or a better rb if we have one...rb position easiest to make a splash as a true freshman...get it going like never b4 commit to it .blocking te extra olineman whatever it takes..

No more boring NFL offenses with no creativity!! We need a college guy who understands RPO, motion, creating match-up problem for the defense, etc.

I semi trolled earlier in the week with pics of Garret saying he'd be the next OC then got concerned I might speak it into reality

2012 Utah - 26.7 pts/game (75/124)
2013 Utah - 29.2 pts/game (66/125)
2017 Houston - 28.2 pts/game (65/130)
I'm assuming he never called any plays at Florida being there with Mullen.
I definitely don't get the excitement here.

I'll be honest, I know nothing about Johnson other than his job history.
I will say I've read multiple places he's extremely well thought of in the NFL and the expectation was he'd be in high demand for NFL OC jobs once the dust settles on the hiring merry go round. It's one of the main reasons I haven't really thought he'd be a realistic candidate.

Apparently his UH tenure wasn't well received, Applewhite took over playcalling in the latter part of the season and they started D’Eriq King at QB.
