Ty coming back is our best chance of success next year and if he doesn’t come back, it’s a rebuilding year.
100% agree. Ive heard so many QBs talk about how much better they were in second year of starting. Mendoza was a 3rd year starter. There is zero chance he would be the same player he is without those other two years of starting at Cal

Heading to Oregon would be a good decision. Enjoy another year of college.
He reminds me a bit of Bo Nix where everyone thinks he's some big arm cannon guy but he was really best when getting the ball out of his hands quickly. Oregon would know exactly how to maximize him.

I still believe what happened to Ty was mostly mental.
It's hard to judge given we had no run game and our o-line was crap and pass protection was horrible all year. Yet- he made a lot of clutch plays that won us some games we otherwise probably should have lost. There was no balance to our scheme and opposing defenses figured it out pretty quickly. Georgia gave Indiana the blueprint shutting it down.

Time to rebuild. Should have rebuilt when Nick threw his keys at Byrne instead of babysitting the roster trying to save turds.

NFL TE and WRs
Yet "the worst supporting cast around him!".
Yeah yeah I know everything is everyone else fault. Ty would be Joe Montana if only his line could give him 10 seconds, his RBs could average 7 YPC and his WRs could break every tackle turning those short throws to 50 yard TDs.
Everyone else let Ty down. Damn them and fire everyone. Poor Ty.

Not enough is made of Ty becoming a statue in the pocket. Maybe it was the “injury” that has been suggested ad nauseum but when he stopped scrambling after going through his reads and not finding anyone, the offense got very clunky. Like it or not, Ty was the majority of the running game early in the season, then he just quit running, even with open field in front of him. How many first downs did we miss because Ty refused to scramble ahead for 7-10 yards with nobody near him? I realize teams started spying him and that cut down on his ability to leave the pocket but the spy wasn’t always there either. Our offense was so dysfunctional this season that by the end of the year, teams had shut down everything but intermediate routes to the hashes and out. Everything else was futile.

Don't forget literally the worst running attack in the history of the program. So as far as the running game, he's right. The worst in 50 years.
You're a knowledgeable football guy. You know that you can't have a successful passing attack without a successful running game. You'll never be successful throwing the football over the course of a season and win at a championship level when defenses know you can't run the football to save your life.
That incredible season Mac Jones and Devonta Smith had in 2020?
Najee Harris had almost 1500 yards and 28 TDs in only 13 games, and almost 6 yards a carry.
They go had in hand. You can't have a championship level passing game with a dogshit running game

We shall bookmark that NFL TE and WR. 80 and 5 were hurt several games.
All that talent at Bama is such a BS almost slogan these days.

I have never argued this though. I have said many times our best RB (#4) is barely a 3rd string option on these really good teams we're competing against.
No one insinuates I'm a racist, says I hate Alabama or insults me when I say that though.

This is true but the reality is the scheme and concept of what KDB and Grubb are doing is predicted on throwing to open the run game.
I didn't choose this concept they did.. all I have done is explain why things are working the way they are.
This scheme needs our QB to make throws to keep defenses honest and unbalanced to hit those gap run plays.
We have seen this offense work at Washington because his QB actually made a TON of vertical passes wether over the top or back shoulder.

Where's the link with Tom Loy saying this? I just went through his social media, and I haven't seen a single thing where he said Ty Simpson is looking to transfer.

Pretty sure this rumor started based on this tweet by a troll account. I haven’t been able to find the actual quote from Tom Loy.

Bro, that account is just tweeting the same shite as the troll account I previously posted. The account you cite posted it after the troll account.
No one has any evidence to show Tom Loy actually said that.

Dude - you can certainly admit that the running game was atrocious, and that a good running game is vital to a QB's performance, right? I mean outside of the Leach offense where short passing supplanted running the ball, what quarterbacks have had great years with the run game that was as poor as ours? Isn't there room to accept that Ty has room for improvement while also acknowledging that the other parts of the offense did him very few favors?

For the record I specifically said take this as you will and that I personally am not taking anything as gospel until it comes out of Ty’s mouth. And the thread about it on Vol Nation is longer than the one here.

You were a reporter, no? Don't you find it odd that the CBS Sports article you linked states "with the buzz saying to keep an eye on Tennessee or Oregon" as opposed to "according to CBS Sports' Tom Loy" or "according to 247's Tom Loy"?
The author of that article cites actual sources for other nuggets throughout the article, but decided not to reference Tom Loy, a colleague, as the source of the Ty nugget?
Seems bogus to me considering the usual guys (e.g., Zenitz, Thamel, Nakos) haven't mentioned it and no one can find a reference to Loy actually saying it

I wouldn’t have written that in a newspaper.
This is a discussion forum where none of us really knows a damn thing about a damn thing, we’re just bitching and bloviating about our favorite team.
Chillax, if it’s true and he goes, he goes. If it’s phony and he stays, he stays.
If you asked me to bet money, I’d lean toward him going and I have no evidence or inside knowledge on that other than a gut feeling that he knows a change of scenery would be better for him.
