I mean it sounds like it was in the bag until a few days ago, so the sudden change probably does have them scrambling a bit. Cunningham is a top 50 player though, so at least the backup plan is a legitimate major conference talent instead of some dude with offers from a handful of average mid-majors and a couple of terrible P-6 teams.

New on3 Article about Reid
on3

Coming out of the Alabama visit, and heading into Derrion Reid’s decision on Saturday, sources close to the situation said they expected Georgia to be the choice, with Florida State making a push.
The intel piece I put out toward the end of last week while relaying this information, said that I was not ready to put in a pick just yet. One source told me as recently as Friday, they did not expect this recruitment to be over. Reid went on to postpone his commitment later that evening.

One source told me that Alabama made its push toward the end of last week and they came out of this weekend with confidence. While it seems that momentum has shifted, sources say that Florida State and Georgia have confidence in their pitch and are continuing to push here.

Translation- "I don't know shite but they pay me to write about recruiting so I better make something up that doesn't actually say anything or commit to anything."

He said it seems like momentum has shifted back towards Alabama, but Georgia and Florida State are still recruiting him hard.
How's that not saying anything?

No real new news with DR. But I will say with 100% certainty it is a good thing he postponed his commitment as it wasn’t going to be to the good guys. We are working it extremely hard as you would imagine.
not sure what Billy Richmond will ultimately do but like where we stand right now.

Trilly says UGA is the leader for Reid.

Does not compute. Can anyone explain how this is happening?

Per Trilly, if the announcement went down this past weekend, we would’ve been the choice. Complete opposite of what Mac says. Lot of conflicting information. Guess it’s which insider you think has the best info

Oh well. On to Cunningham I guess

Just read the burnerball article Trilly put out. This smells a lot like Reid's camp trying to continue a bidding war as long as possible.

Im over it at this point.

He was the #1 player in the 24 class for a little while and was still top ten in March. Supposedly his stock really took a hit when he went to OTE.
ETA: almost sounds a little familiar to what happened with Kris Parker.

It will be interesting to see how things play out with Scoot and the Thompson twins over the next year or two after Jalen Green and Kuminga looked generally not prepared for NBA basketball. Those programs (G-League and OTE) may start losing a lot of their appeal if they earn a reputation for unstructured play that puts no emphasis on defense.

Reid’s Mama should look at what’s better for her son LongTerm and not what she wants.
This is ridiculous

Rumor on BOL that Travis Perry is visiting this weekend.

Are we turning into Wisconsin of the south?

Well, Perry is ranked from 70 to 95 or so in the 2024 class, and that is where we can compete in NIL. Our coaches clearly have worked hard to land top 30 guys like Boogie Fland, Asa Newell, Derrion Reid, Jason Richardson, etc, but it seems the high level of NIL offers for these top 30 guys is more than we are able or willing to pay. Perry is a really good point guard who can shoot 3's, and we need guys like that if we can get them out of the Big 10 area where there are lots of really good guards like him.

I would post all the top 30 recruits and top transfers we have gotten over the last few years since NIL has been a thing but why waste my time.
Pretty sure we have one ranked in the top 30 already committed in this class.

We matched UGAs offer for Reid. His mom wants him at UGA and he wants Bama. UGA is only 1hr 30mins from his hometown. Mamas got to let him go at some point
