It will be interesting to see if KU and Self gets hit with anything else since most of the schools involved didn’t get hit with much at all (besides Oklahoma State).

It’s Kansas. It’s Self. As pitiful as it is, a slap on the wrist is all I’m expecting. If that.

I looked at some of his highlights on youtube and he is going to be a matchup nightmare. Only weakness that saw is he needs to develop finishing left handed around the rim. If he doesn't, defenders are going to force him left.

The Kansas charges are close to the same as lsu. Will Wade got fired, sat out 2 yeas, and received a 2 yr show cause and a 10 game suspension. Plus the school is on 3 yrs probation, and a reduction in scholarships.
I dont think the Kansas coach has experienced anything like Will Wade has experienced. KS just patted in on the back.

Four-star small forward Billy Richmond cuts to 4 schools

Billy Richmond, the 6-foot-5, four-star small forward from Camden (NJ) High School and the NJ Scholars AAU program, is down to four schools.

Richmond is now considering Alabama, Memphis, Kentucky, and LSU, per On3.com. He is slated to visit Kentucky this weekend for Big Blue Madness.

He’s taken official visits to LSU (Sept. 8-10), Kentucky (Sept. 15-17) and Memphis (Sept. 29-31) but did not trip to Kansas last weekend as originally planned. He has a trip scheduled to Alabama from Oct. 20-22.

He previously broke down several of his schools for ZAGSBLOG:

Memphis: “They have been heavily involved with me. Coach Penny (Hardaway) and some of his assistants. I have been talking to them consistently. They have really been just checking in on me, telling me they are watching my games and contacting me after the game. They are building the relationship, checking in on me and seeing how I am doing.”

Kentucky: “Coach Chin (Coleman), he is trying to get me to go up there on an official visit. I’m looking to go up there during Midnight Madness, when all the students are back on campus. They play a style where they get up with the ball and run, attack and drive. That is really my game, I like to play off that.”

Alabama: “I speak with coach (Nate) Oats a lot. He told me I reminded him of (current New Orleans Pelicans forward) HerbJones, who he coached. He told me that coming in, Herb couldn’t shoot and that I shoot way better than him (laughs). He told me that I have defensive potential and that I fit their game style very well. I could be a big point guard there.”

Not going to lie. When we lost Pett and Hodgson, I thought our recruiting would drop off for a year or two.

Call me crazy and I know this is kind of a ridiculous take being that it is so early, but I think Oats actually put together a better overall staff than the one he replaced.

And that is coming from someone that is not only a big Pett fan, but someone that wanted Hodgson to stay with Nate forever.

Nothing will happen to Kansas.

We've seen the same shite (well...not really but Kansas does it's very big share of basketball violations) over and over again and they never get hit hard

I finally get why Missouri fans bitch about Kansas

On Feb. 7, 1970, “Pistol” Pete Maravich of LSU made a Memorial (now Coleman) Coliseum record 26 field goals en route to a then NCAA single-game record 69 points. Despite the offensive heroics during an era with no 3-point line or shot clock, Alabama still outlasted LSU, 106-104. Maravich scored 47 of his 69 points in the second half and made 17 free throws. The wild affair in Tuscaloosa also had a postgame brawl that included Maravich, his LSU teammates, a courtside photographer and Crimson Tide football players coming out of the stands. So in memory of his 26 made field goals in Memorial Coliseum, Pete Maravich is here to remind you the 2023-24 basketball season tips off in 26 days.

Interesting stuff but imo writing a Quinerly article as an Arkansas sports site is pretty odd. Seems really random.

Appreciate the link regardless. Funny to know that Q wasn't a fan of Musselman's shirtless antics either.

Here's the article from the on3 interview of Asa...

quote:

The Alabama Crimson Tide remain in pursuit of one of the top uncommitted basketball prospects in the nation.

Asa Newell, the top-ranked power forward in the 2024 class, put Nate Oats‘ program in his top four on Sept. 20. Georgia, Gonzaga, and Texas are the other finalists for the product of Montverde Academy. The Athens (Ga.) native most recently took an official visit with the Bulldogs this past weekend.

Newell spoke with BamaOnLine on Wednesday after practice about why Alabama is in his final four, message from the staff, and much more.

quote:

Coach Nate Oats, he runs an NBA system,” Newell told BOL. “He took Noah Clowney last year and he got him to the first round. He was lower in the draft stock before. If he takes players like that to the NBA, I know that he can take me to the NBA because we have a similar game at the four position.

quote:

He took Brandon Miller last year, and they had a successful season,” Newell continued. “They run fast, they have a real good pace, and they run an NBA offense.”

Alabama dipped into Newell’s recruitment all the way back on Nov. 30, 2021. Since then, the Tide’s staff has changed, with Ryan Pannone now leading the way in the pursuit of Newell.

The one constant for Bama in their pursuit of the 6-foot-9 power forward has been Nate Oats.

quote:

“I know Coach Nate Oats will get after you, for sure. He’s going to tell you when you’re messing around, and he’s going to tell you when you’re being great,” Newell said. “I feel like that’s the best mix because, with my AAU team, they coach me the same way and get on me. Just hold me accountable.

“I like Coach Nate Oats. He seems like a good guy. He seems like a coach I would like to play for, and our conversations have been great.”

Pannone was officially hired by Alabama on June 6, with his dedication to the film room being well-received by Newell.

“He’s a dog. He cuts up film more than any other assistant coach in the U.S.,” Newell said of Pannone. “He comes from the G League, and has the same mindset as Coach Nate Oats. He’s telling me I’ve got to be a beast on both ends of the floor and be assertive. I know if I go over there, I’ll be held accountable.”

quote:

Wrapping up his assessment of Bama, Newell says he has confidence in the staff that they can help him reach his fullest potential.

“I know if I go over there… in the worst-case scenario, I’m not going less than top 20. That’s worst case,” Newell said. “A lot of people in my circle talk to NBA guys, and they say that Alabama is really high on the offense.”
