Congrats on the two first round picks.
Looking forward to watching Nick Smith Jr. and Brandon Miller reunited in Charlotte.

I’m no hater but how is Anthony Black projected go top 10? He’s an average ball handler with a questionable jump shot. Don’t understand the hype but I wish the young man the best.
I'm not an expert, but I'm a pretty big draft nerd, and do a Big Board every year. Anthony Black has been one of the weirdest evaluations I've seen. Everybody seems so high on him because he's a 6'7" PG. His passing is terrific, really good cutter and finisher but he has a meh handle, can't shoot and his defense (while still very good) seems a bit overrated. I also question him getting by NBA defenders as his first step is not the quickest and he doesn't have a jump shot to help setup his drives.
How Black was a no questions asked top 9 prospect to just about everybody confuses me. Kobe Bufkin is ~1 inch shorter and has him on just about every major skill other than passing and maybe defense (some be a very wide margin).
I've been doing a draft board for about 10 years now, and I'd say the top 9 unanimous Anthony Black evaluation has thrown me off more than any other prospect I've researched, and that's not even taking into account how strong this draft was. I mean no one had him outside of their top 10 prospects... I settled on him at #23 and feel like I probably had him higher than I would have had I not known how high the consensus was on him. And I'm a guy that is typically quick to fall in love with the passing prospects. I've definitely been wrong before though, and a lot of those draft guys are smarter than I am, but I just don't get the appeal with Black. Maybe there's some upside he showed in HS that I'm just not seeing in his Arkansas tape. I had Nick Smith about 8 spots higher, strictly because of his HS tape, but I mostly did that because he was playing through injury while at Arkansas.
Maybe one of the Arkansas residents here can explain to me the Anthony Black infatuation for the next level? What am I missing?

Tsheibwe and Timme both going undrafted tells me that Chuck wasn't even close to being drafted. While Chuck is a much better rim protector than the other two, their offensive skills make Chuck look silly. I still can't believe someone was in Chuck's ear to stay in the draft.

Tsheibwe goes through rebounds like i go through tic-tacs. Decent scorer too. Reminds me of a young Barkley.
How did he get ignored?

He disappeared for long stretches last year, should have left instead of coming back

Declaring after 2021-2022 wouldn't have made Oscar a more explosive athlete or a shooter. He would have gone top 5 in the NBA of 20 years ago, but today he's at best a niche bench guy because he doesn't offer anything in terms of defensive switchability, floor spacing, or rim protection.

Alabama’s Brandon Miller and Noah Clowney Selected in 2023 NBA Draft First Round Thursday Night
Miller selected second overall to Charlotte, Clowney goes in No. 21 overall to Brooklyn, marking the first time in 28 years that two Alabama players were selected in the first round of the NBA draft
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – It was a historical night for the Alabama men's basketball program as two players were selected in the first round of the 2023 NBA Draft, which was held Thursday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Brandon Miller matched the program's highest selection at No. 2 overall to the Charlotte Hornets, while Noah Clowney went to the Brooklyn Nets with the No. 21 overall selection.
Miller and Clowney were the first Crimson Tide teammates in 28 years to be selected in the first round of the same NBA Draft, dating back to 1995 when Antonio McDyess (No. 2 overall to the LA Clippers) and Jason Caffey (No. 20 overall to Chicago Bulls) achieved the feat.
It marks the second time in the past three seasons under head coach Nate Oats that Alabama had two players selected in the same NBA Draft (Joshua Primo and Herbert Jones in 2021). Oats has now coached a total of six NBA Draft picks (JD Davison, 2nd Round in 2022 and Kira Lewis Jr., 1st Round in 2020) during his time at Alabama, including four first round selections during that span.
Alabama In The NBA Draft
* Brandon Miller and Noah Clowney became the 47th and 48th Alabama players to hear their name called on draft night, while marking the 12th time the Tide has had two or more players selected in the same draft
* The duo also became the 18th and 19th First Round selections in program history
* Miller is the Tide's fourth NBA Draft Lottery pick in the last six years (Collin Sexton, No. 8 overall Cleveland Cavaliers)
* The Crimson Tide has had a player selected in the NBA Draft Lottery in the last four NBA Drafts (Kira Lewis Jr. No. 13 overall to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2020, Joshua Primo No. 12 overall to the San Antonio Spurs in 2021, Herbert Jones No. 35 to the New Orleans Pelicans and JD Davison No. 53 to the Boston Celtics in 2022)
* Miller matches former great Antonio McDyess, who went No. 2 overall to the LA Clippers in the 1995 NBA Draft
* Alabama's six players selected in the last four NBA Drafts matches the program record for most during a four-year span
* During the Oats era, Alabama has produced three NBA Draft Lottery Picks (Miller, Primo, Lewis)
* Miller became the 18th UA player to be selected in the first round and the ninth who was drafted inside the top 15
* It was the 12th time Alabama has had two players selected in the same draft in program history

Nate Oats Sparking an NBA Draft Renaissance for Alabama Basketball (SI)
Crimson Tide coach has had at least one player drafted to the NBA every year since he's been in Tuscaloosa.

Was thrilled he dropped to us. Had him at #6 on my board, but it wouldn't be a Hawks draft if there wasn't a potential star prospect that dropped to us that we passed on (Whitmore)

It was a odd draft. Black is projected to be a SG I believe. He had to play point because of the injury to smith. I believe black should have been around 13-18th pick. I think Blacks defense and hustled helped his stock.

Gotta be honest, I was in the camp that he was never coming back to Arkansas after he got hurt.
Probably the right thing to do (for the team), but do you think he hurt his draft stock any by doing so?

Nick Smith Jr. most definitely hurt his stock by coming back.

I think his stock would drop even more if he didnt play.
But I expected better play out of him when he came back.
