How do y'all feel about our team next year, our impact in the transfer portal and recruiting has been somewhat underwhelming but we have a lot of good current talent on our team. I expect us to make a good run and make the NCAA tournament but how far we go is very much up in the air as it appears now.

Kante never made a ton of sense unless there was some thought that Bediako might stay in the draft or you were just stashing him for 2024. Wonder who we fill these last two spots with now though. Stevenson? Not sure who the second spot goes to right now.

I think they're going to keep leaving a spot open in case some unexpected slam dunk grad transfer becomes available last minute, and if that doesn't happen it allows for a pseudo-reclassification like Cosby if anyone wants to go that route. Sherrell for example, since a full reclassification seems to be off the table now.

That is my thought exactly on Papa Kante. And it's not that we can't provide really good NIL - though not Arkansas level up front payments from JB Hunt trucking, Walmart, and Tyson Chicken. I suspect it is because Kante or his agent wanted more in NIL than we are willing to offer. Definitely nobody who can't make the top 100 ranked recruits should command anything like mid-six figure. JQ, with our basketball team's highest NIL, made about $450K in NIL - and he worked his arse off getting big and little NIL deals, like signing JQ Jelly hats at a shop on University Blvd. Why did Kante drop Michigan, who was paying Hunter Dickinson under six figures - according to Dickinson? What does Sam Walters have lined up? He is rated number 55 to Papa Kate's number 108. Which guy would you prioritize?

It would be pretty stupid to pay Kante any money at all to be a redundant bench player now that it looks like Chuck is very likely to come back. He'd just take his money and transfer after one year of non-contribution.

Kantes NIL value isnt very high, On3 has him NIL evaluation at 9 thousand dollars.
I doubt lack of funds on our end was the issue, probably came down to role, playing time ect.

Why would you think that? The only information out there right now is that the visit was canceled on Bama's end. That could turn out to not be true, but have you heard something none of the rest of us have?

My statement about NIL was not based on any one player.
You would think with our recent success portal players would be clamoring to come. They are not. I don't believe we are competing well for them in the NIL world. If you don't think this will have an impact on Oats, you have your head in the sand.
