I have been super busy lately and haven't been able to keep up with everything as well as I usually do. Trying to get caught up on the portal this morning. Am I missing anything as far as targets or visit/decision dates are concerned?

Guy on BOL said he thinks Bama feels pretty good about where they stand with Perry

The good news about Perry is that he's such a good shooter that even after the 4-6% dip that comes with being a scholarship basketball player at Alabama he'd still be pretty good.

I like Perry from the little that i've seen. Him, Sears and JQ would give us another year with a pretty small backcourt which i'm not exactly a big fan of, but it is what it is I guess. He looks like a good fit offensively. Defensively he's probably around the same as Sears/JQ were last year?

Yeah, not sure how I like adding a sub-6-foot 2-guard when we already have Sears in that undersized role. While it looks like he may have a better handle than Sears, he has an extremely low assist total for a PG with his usage.

Having said that, the dude is a dynamite shooter and an impressive scorer off the dribble. Could be the best scorer off the dribble we'd have.

Sears needs to work on his right hand and breaking down people.

Sears doesn't possess the quickness, handle, or "eye"(assists) to be successful with our game at this level. You can't really teach this stuff!

Yeah, I am skeptical of adding another small guard to a roster that already has a small backcourt. That said, one thing to note about Perry compared to the other guards we have contacted is that he does spend a lot more time at the line than the rest of them despite being a really prolific outside shooter. Just going by some internet highlights he appears to not avoid contact in the paint and finishes through that contact pretty well for a little guy.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to add another small quick guard like Perry that can break someone down off the dribble while also being a good shooter. Quinerly is about the only guy possibly coming back that can do that. We already have some guards with good height in Griffen, Cosby Jr, Walton is a 6/7 G/F and Estrada is 6’4 if we land him.

He was our 2nd leading scorer, 2nd most minutes played, 2nd best free throw shooter, 3rd best three point shooter(though only a 10th of a percent behind Q), and led the team in steals. He was basically our 2nd most productive player behind Brandon last season. How is that not successful?

Tylor Perry is ranked 12th, here are the write ups on him and Estrada

quote:

10. Aaron Estrada, 6-4, PG, Sr., Hofstra Pride Won back-to-back CAA Player of the Year honors after putting up huge numbers during his two seasons at Hofstra. Averaged 19.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists, shooting nearly 35% from 3.

quote:

12. Tylor Perry, 5-11, SG, Sr., North Texas Mean Green He's only listed at 5-foot-11, but Perry earned Conference USA Player of the Year honors and is one of the truly elite shooters in the country. Shot 41.3% from 3 the past two seasons. Averaged 17.3 points.

I don’t understand the hate Sears gets. Did people not watch the first 25-27 games of the year? He was a stud and Dude was arguably our most important player.

I love sears he went into a slump towards the end of the year after the Miles stuff but who on the team didn’t.

His ceiling is higher than he showed last year too, he shot 40% from three at Ohio and his defense seemed to get better as the year went.

Muss has the funds to bring in 13 High level transfers if he wanted.

It really is a perfect storm for Arkansas. Solid coach who is a great recruiter who has unlimited funds

I like the guys we are in on better than the ones theyre bringing in. Espn has their transfers ranked

33. Tramon Mark
34. Menifield
60. Khalif Battle
Jeremiah Davenport - not ranked in the top 100

As I posted earlier that Have Estrada ranked 10th and Perry ranked 12th who we are in on.
They have Walton at 51.

Transfer rankings are very subjective, I personally would rank Mark and Battle higher than ESPN has them but I think theyre spot on with Estrada and Perry being in the top 15.

I bet Muss would go Will Wade and pay the players out of his own pocket if he had to, he seems pretty nuts. Nuts in a good competitive/relentless way though for the most part.

Sears is a good college basketball player but he has a few limitations that hurt him. He doesn’t possess a good enough handle to be a point guard but he also lacks the athleticism and height to be a 2 guard. If JQ doesn’t come back I’d be fine with Sears being the 6th man. We definitely need a bigger lineup at the guard positions. He needs to work on going up strong and initiating contact to get to the foul line. He’s a good on ball defender but he usually is at least four inches shorter than his opponent.

He's an excellent #2 guard!...just not a point guard. I like Sears, but just not trying to run the team's offense. We need a point guard more than anything!
