Some of y’all need to pace yourselves. It’s a long off season. It is going to be EPIC! I’m VERY high on this team though!

It's going to be fricking hilarious when that IARP thing drops their report and punishment in late July or something when it's too late to replace any player deemed ineligible or hire a replacement for Wade.

LINK ]Five-star Brandon Miller taking his time with the recruiting process (247, Bossi)

quote:

For a five-star prospect, LINK ]Brandon Miller keeps a low profile on and off the court and with his recruitment. 247Sports caught up with Miller recently and the 6-foot-7 junior small forward who ranks No. 12 nationally said that he's glad to be back on the grassroots circuit with his Brad Beal Elite teammates after what he felt was a solid junior year.

"It feels good to be back with the guys," said Miller. "Getting back out here with Nick Smith and the rest of the guys I think we are going to do really well this year. I felt like I played hard with my team and did what I could to keep us winning. I extended my three point range. My mid range game is probably my best part of my game, either that or my ability to pass the ball."

On the recruiting front, Miller mentioned Alabama and Tennessee along with North Carolina, Louisville, Kentucky and some others that have been in contact from time to time.

"My dad played football there," said Miller of Alabama. "He says some stuff about them but he mostly tells me that it is my decision and that he'll support me wherever I decide to go. Things kind of slowed down while they were in the tournament but I think things with them are going to be getting back really active with them soon." ... (more)

Note: His dad is Darrell Miller, TE on 1991 team.

Watching videos of Gurley and you can see why Oats wants him badly enough to in all likelihood make some tough roster decisions to get him here. A great long fit, ran similar offense at Furman so I imagine he'd easily slide into our system, nice outside touch.

Furman/VMI (SoCon Tourney) - Gurley 30 pts, 7 assists, 7 rebounds

Noah Gurley 2019-20

His last 6 games of the season
- 22.7 PPG
- 2.6 Assist PG
- 7.3 Reb PG
- 1.2 Blocks PG
- 60.9% FG
- 45.2% 3PT
- 72.7% FT

He also played well against major teams

2020-21
- @ Cincy : 20 pts, 8 reb
- @ Bama : 15 pts, 3 reb

2019-20
- @ Bama : 7 pts, 4 reb
- @ Auburn : 21 pts, 8 reb

I’m going on record from what I’ve read on multiple message boards....

My prediction and I hope I’m wrong is that if we Land Gurley the 2 odd men out are gonna be James Rojas and Langston Wilson.

Looking at Myreon Jones' Offensive BPM, makes you wonder why we didn't push harder for him. I know his defensive is low but he blows the others away on the offensive.

He's just a junior and from Birmingham.

Honestly, that would make the most sense. Wilson would come in as a Junior, so there isn't that big a difference in classification (Wilson for 2, Gurley for 1). Gurley is polished, Wilson has high upside but is kind of raw - and unlike some of the other raw kids we had (Miles, KAH) he doesn't have 4 years to smooth out, he has 2.

I don't really have an opinion on it because that feels like a decision made with way deeper troves of evidence than I have, but on the surface that makes the most sense to me.

Not sure how I feel about his defense. He doesn't seem to move all that well laterally. Offensively he's basically Herb with an outside shot that is for more than just show.

To retirement 10 days at a time.

Wish he could stick somewhere. Love his heart and effort.

Who knows, but I'm guessing they really don't want to bring in grad transfers who won't fit a specific need with an ability to immediately hit the ground running with our system......or......young talented guys who are basically the same as signing a high school kid (JQ, Burnett).

So, who knows really.

I'd really hate that, and it would be a horrible look for Oats and the program. It's just not worth it IMO.

That's my biggest concern with this stuff - either with cutting Wilson loose or cutting KAH or Miles loose.

The good news is Wilson would have no shortage of suitors pretty quickly, I'd guess, but I still hate the look.

Can you greyshirt in Basketball? Like if Oats went to him and explained the situation and how he thinks because Langston has only played organized basketball for a year that he spends this year developing and then plays in 2022-2023?

Pretty sure Wilson will be coming in with 3 years of eligibility. I know he tweeted about it when all this extra year stuff was coming up.

Unless he cannot medically qualify, I see no way Wilson isn’t on the team next year. You don’t just cut a signee like that.
