We caught up with 4* 2024 forward Aiden Sherrell after @hillcrest_prep practice, today. Gifted 6’11” forward and a walking mismatch who put up 18.6 PPG, 9.1 RPG, 1.3 APG and 1.3 BPG this season in the OTE league. We discussed his recruitment, how he envisions his role at the next level, overcoming adversity, & more. Q&A coming

Yeah getting Parker would be a nice get, we’re going to need a starting Forward through the portal regardless though, not liking how thin we’ll be entering the off-season.

I wonder if Emoni Bates hits the portal this off season. He would be a good replacement for Miller, cant shoot as good obviously but he is a good shooter and is averaging 20 points per game this year at Eastern Michigan. Our offense would be a perfect fit for him if he is looking to transfer.

Here are some of his highlights from this season, he's a former 5 star.

2025 Jasper Johnson is on an unofficial visit today. Kid is an elite shooter with some serious range.

It'll be tough to pull an elite kid out of Kentucky backyard.

Pretty sure he had a gun charge arrest. He’d probably be too toxic right now.

And a a very over involved parent. It wouldn’t be smart to bring him here at all.

I'm going to pass on Emoni without even a consideration. Red flags all around him and he doesn't really strike me as a good fit from a basketball standpoint either. He's a pretty good offensive player, but he doesn't check enough boxes overall. We should be able to get a more complete player for our system in the portal imo. And bringing in a guy that is on probation for pleading guilty to a weapons charge would be a complete disaster from a PR perspective. The program has a big enough black eye right now as it is, no need to compound the problem with a self inflicted wound.

To clarify - I haven’t seen him play a ton obviously. He may be better on the defensive side than I am giving him credit for. Point stands though, he ain’t worth it imo.

Significant changes in the recruiting media world. On3 has changed the On3 Consensus from being equally weighted to a contribution of On3 35%, 247 35%, Rivals 20%, ESPN 10%. The index is also being rebranded On3 Industry Ranking.

This is something that I have been considering for around a year or so now. Seems like a good time to get some feedback from those that participate in this thread.

1. Do you use the first page as a resource to see what recruits to keep an eye on? Do you like it? Is it helpful? How can it improve?

2. I have been using 247 for recruit profiles and 247c for rankings for several years now. Should I stick with that or migrate to On3/On3c for those? I am not willing to track both on the first page, this is a one or the other situation. Those are the only two options - Rivals, ESPN or any other site is not under consideration.

3. If you strongly prefer one over the other (247c or On3c) for basketball recruiting rankings, let me know which one and why.

After I get some initial feedback, I’ll probably do another post allowing the thread to vote on which they prefer by either upvoting or downvoting on that post. Just looking for feedback and opinions right now.

I use the first page frequently, usually to check for updates on the target list for the next year's class. Definitely helpful, I like the position breakdown as well. Only thing I can say an improvement could be, which probably isn't worth the effort, is a small nugget based on the most recent news regarding the target i.e. visit date announced, recent quote regarding us, etc. Sometimes it can be tough keeping track or gauging a temperature since there aren't as many resources compared to football recruiting.

No preference, I haven't used On3 yet so don't have experience, just glad it's not Rivals or ESPN.

Overall, the first page is very helpful. Especially when it comes to actually trying to track down news on certain guys we're aiming at getting.

I absolutely review the first page often. Contains very pertinent info. I have no preference which site you use. Thanks for doing this!

Any pay site rumblings about him?

As for the first page, I think it’s really good as is. I don’t use it a ton, but it has the info I need anytime I’m checking for something recruit related.
