15-20 years ago, I bitched on tiderinsider about the lack of basketball coverage. That guy that owned the site called me that afternoon and asked that I not do that. and gave me a few excuses on why there was a lack of coverage.

Pretty odd for a message board.

News: Milwaukee's Patrick Baldwin Jr will enter the NCAA's transfer portal. Baldwin has declared for the NBA draft and is fully committed to staying in the draft, his agency Priority Sports told ESPN. Baldwin entered the season a projected top-10 pick.

Safe to say him going to go play for his dad didn't exactly work out for either of them.

That was always such a bizarre move that was never going to do anything but hurt both of them. It raises expectations beyond what is reasonable for the dad and denies the son a lot of resources he could have used to get better as a player.

His story is still being written. Maybe his lackluster season sets him up on a contender where he can flourish in a specialized role.

I mean I highly doubt he decides to play college ball another year. He probably hasn't gotten the feedback he was hoping for so far so he decided to open it back up to see what kind of NIL money he could make.

I don't doubt the kid won't turn it around, he's a stud, it was just a weird move in the first place.

You and me both, he’ll be a late first round pick where the contenders are selecting. If he can fill a specific role on a deep playoff team he’ll make himself some dough.

You don’t want Justin Powell.

Besides, this will be his 7th different team in 7 years dating back to high school.

That’s a stat I have never seen before

Agiye Hall may wind up eclipsing this record one day. Just a gut feeling.

A sign of the times: Miami’s Isaiah Wong plans to enter the transfer portal this weekend if his NIL package is not improved, his agent told ESPN. Billionaire John Ruiz said Wong is “under contract” but added “I do not renegotiate!” Miami can’t comment.

Pretty ridiculous. So does Larranaga control his roster or is it all on Ruiz? This isn’t what college sports were supposed to be.

It took less than a year for it to go from players being able to get a cut of jersey sales and autograph signings to wealthy boosters having entire teams on their payrolls.

This Isaiah Wong story is just the most relatable workplace drama. NIL is just teaching kids how to be a petty co-worker that’s jealous of the new guy brought in on an annoyingly big salary. Important life lesson.

Looks like the perfect 2-3 year developmental player to take the last roster spot IMHO. But, he was a Top 50 recruit, so who knows if that is something he wants to do. I'd guess he wants to play next year, and we won't be able to offer that.

These guys at this highest level have the same setup that actual professional athletes do - agents, business managers, etc. I'd be shocked if 95% of them don't have CPAs.

Smaller level guys with sporadic endorsements? Could definitely see those being missed in terms of tax implications.

Players have to provide written notice (to current school) of intent to enter transfer portal by 11:59 p.m. May 1 in order to be eligible for the one-time transfer waiver.

Compliance department then has two days after that to enter the player into the portal.
