So what you are saying is that Herb Jones is a fricking legend.

We already knew that.

Incredible group to be a part of if he makes it.

I agree and unless things have changed lately, second round picks do not get guaranteed money and typically not many actually make the NBA roster.

Keon is already 22 and getting bigger and stronger is more of an NBA thing than college. His stock will probably not get higher than a 2nd round pick, he should declare.

The Tide staff has been very thorough and methodical with the portal this year. Finding not only the right talent base but also maturity level is a top priority when adding impact guys for next year. They will keep digging.

I for one, am very happy we're cleaning out the roster and bringing in guys that not only fit the system but bring the mentality needed to play for Oats.

There really isn't much difference in 22 and 23 year olds when it comes to the draft process. Teams that draft those guys are expecting/hoping for a more complete player. Hell, Duarte was a whole year older than Keon would be next year and was drafted 13th overall. If Keon could show more aggressiveness on the offensive end, he absolutely could develop into a first round pick. However, there is an element of risk, and if you can get some sort of guarantee as a 2nd round pick, I'd probably make the jump.

I don’t think it’s a bad idea for Keon to leave, I just don’t think it would be crazy for him to stay.

Unlike Shack or Quinerly, I think there are parts of his game that Keon could improve on that could result in him working his way into the end of the first round next year.

Its also not a sure thing that he gets drafted at all this year.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I'd seriously consider returning. When you're projected in the middle of the second round, that puts you firmly into the potentially undrafted category. I would explore it and see if you can get a guarantee of some sort in the 2nd round (which is actually more common than it is in the first round). If not, I'd probably return.

Real talk tho this is the best Bama bball group you gonna find. Every page either has new info or discussion on old info to hold us over until the next news dump. Cursing gets censored too, this board is about as pedestrian as they come.

It’s really not close either. Every place I’ve checked mostly just has a game-thread during the season and little else

I might be analyzing it a bit too much, but the way JD congratulated Mark Sears on Twitter for committing to Alabama didn't really give me future teammate vibes.

I go to BOL for my basketball coverage. Mostly because Abrell is so informative.

Kidding aside, is that crazy bitch still over there?

The fact that we jumped on Sears so hard (and that he committed here) pretty much guarantees JD won't be back given what we have coming in with Bradley.

When it comes to the PG position, we need to be prepared to trade poster dunks on rival centers and rim-rocking putbacks for a turnover rate that isn't historically awful and defense that might not be entirely head-scratching.

I agree with this but I'm a bit skeptical because if there was a time for him to take over and be more aggressive, it would've been last year. Duarte made the jump from his Junior to Senior year from just a 3+D guy to someone that can develop his skillset a bit more by torching the Pac-12 his last year. I don't really see Keon making that leap and putting up the statline Duarte did, so if he's getting looked at in the 2nd he should go.

This being said, I would love for him to be back but I just don't think it makes a lot of sense.

Making the Madness: Mark Sears Commits to Alabama

Wanted to give this guy a shout-out. He's a small channel but actually knows our roster pretty well for a guy covering all of CBB. He knows it way better than 95% of the national sports media that gets paid loads of money to cover that kind of stuff.

I would give up a little offensive efficiency for much better defense.

Yeah, me too. Defense is really the key to this whole entire thing. The system we run will create an efficient offense, even with a group of average offensive players. The defense however can be hammered dog shite if we don't have at least a few guys that have plus skills on that side of the ball.
