Yep. I appreciate what JQ did for us the past two years, but I don’t want us holding a scholarship for a guy who might can return for SEC play and would potentially scare off guards from signing with us that could have a long term impact, not a 2 month impact.

With his brother transferring, I all but assumed that meant JQ wouldn’t be back. I don’t see why Jaden would transfer if JQ had plans to stay another year.

If he comes back I don't see us signing anyone like Sears or Llewellyn out of the portal. It'd have to be a guy who mostly plays off ball but is comfortable enough bringing the ball up the court and running the offense to function in that role for a few months. And even guys like that might not want to jump in because they'd know they'd be playing out of position for most, and potentially all, of the year. So yeah, it's a really fricked up situation because we need him to go but his pro options are going to be really limited between the shite season and the injury.

I'd be pretty disappointed at this point if we miss out on Sears. He'd have 2-3 years left

I agree with this. I am curious if he is thinking 2-3 years though. From the write up on the teams he is considering.

Texas: “I spoke with the head coach and he's basically saying they need me to reach the final four. He said he wants to win a national championship and around this time next year wants to see me in the draft.

I appreciate it. I guess I don't handle the criticism or sarcastic comments as well as I should. Probably better if I move on. I appreciate all the work you put in on research and the interaction. I'll still follow you and some others to stay informed. If there was a way to narrow down who you can message on here, it might help. Don't see that option.
Take care, brother.

if i recall gurley played pretty out of his mind to get that vols win for us

And I recall Gurley posting up to make our last two baskets to beat Arkansas. Those were clutch plays, and I hope next year he develops that little post hook shot - Buck Johnson made a living with it.

That's just recruiting nonsense. The closest NBA player comp I can think of off the top of my head for a guy like Sears is probably VanVleet, who has had a great pro career but was also a 4 year college player and UDFA.

With all the tweets about midrange shots, I'm surprised he wouldn't look to transfer.

DT55,

Stop it. You can't afford to be sensitive in this group. Some people are a-hole on here.. you just need to learn to ignore them.

Real talk tho this is the best Bama bball group you gonna find. Every page either has new info or discussion on old info to hold us over until the next news dump. Cursing gets censored too, this board is about as pedestrian as they come.

Think Sears and Llewellyn would come together or it’s probably one or the other?

If Texas is really in it for Sears, then we should be negatively recruiting the hell out of Beard. You don’t have to make anything up - just show them Texas basketball reference stats.

Tre Mitchell averaged 18.8 ppg at UMass, transfers to Texas and puts up 8.7 a game.

Timmy Allen 17.2 to 12.2.

Marcus Carr 19.4 to 11.4.

I would list Dylan Disu’s stats but he barely played for them.

He pulled in a haul of the best transfer portal guys, but the way his teams play just severely hampers your ability to put up numbers.

The guy is a good coach. If you want to win and learn defense, it’s not a bad choice. But if you want to put up numbers and play an exciting style while winning? Not so much.

By far best place I’ve found to learn and talk about Alabama basketball. Haven’t found anything close. Joined for this thread
