Newest schools in the mix: Wake Forest, Texas A&M, Penn State, Memphis, NC State. Busy first day in the portal for Broome, once again, one of the top-available transfers.

Broome has quite a list
Yeah, looks like he's going to be able to go just about anywhere he wants.

Always interesting to me how guys like that end up at a place like Morehead.
For Broome it looks like in high school he was only 6-8 and 200 lbs, and now he is 6-10 and 235, so he must have grown before or while he was at Morehead and kept the same skillset.

Justin Powell ends up in the portal, what do we think about him?
No thank you. Don't want anyone we have to hope learns toughness. It was one of our biggest issues. We don't need to bring in anyone with a question mark in that area. We have other options that can score and are proven tough defenders.

Absolutely a no on powell

UNC is absolutely getting after it on the defensive end. Putting on a clinic.

Yeah, but they’ve definitely been the beneficiary of calls in the first half as well.

Complete role reversal in the 2nd.

I don't care at all who wins this but Bacot has gotten away with a lot of fouls.

I want Kansas personally out of the 2
If both could lose, it’d be the best case scenario

Well, they pulled off the comeback. Gotta admire that.
Wasn't Self involved in some of the same stuff that got Wade and LSU in trouble or am I thinking of someone else?

Kansas got a NOA in 2019 with 5 level 1 violations and a lack of institutional control.

Nah he is, but unc cheated awhile back and got a slap.

And won a championship 3 years later. That's crazy. As long as LSU doesn't follow suit, I guess.

Ughh…Gary with face in jersey for One Shining Moment. Even though we lost the game in OT last year, Reese’s shot getting included was pretty cool. Let’s hope for another positive one next year, like Oats cutting down the nets for Bama’s first final4!
That said, it’s tough to replace the majority of your roster and be successful in the tournament. Look at how much production in the tourney was from freshman on UNC or Kansas…almost non-existent. Both had experienced guards and front courts. Villanova did as well. Duke was the only one in the final 4 who relied heavily on freshman, and they had one of the 3 best coaches to ever coach CBB.
I think we may need to be patient with the team next year given the vast inexperience that is going to be on the team. Even the transfers will be new to the system, coaches, and teammates while the group collectively will be searching to establish an identity, leadership, etc. The whole thing is pretty much a rebuild at this point, which is possible given recruiting and the portal but we need to temper expectations and be ready for inconsistencies in performance. Hopefully the inconsistencies won’t be due to effort this time. (Side note: part of what made this year so frustrating was having solid experience at almost all the key positions but being as inconsistent as a team starting 5 underclassman.)

Well luckily that’s what we have the portal for. We won’t be leaning heavily on our freshman. They’ll make an impact but it won’t all be on them.

ESPN’s preseason 22-23 top 25 has us at 15
It also says that JQ is coming back (obviously just an assumption by them) but interesting nonetheless
