I read one mock draft write up and it said (basically) that although he had played well below his 5 star rating, a team might be willing to take a chance on him based on his athletic jumping ability. They had him at 27.

Gary, Burnett, Bediako, and Holt should give us some good defenders for next season.
The biggest problem this last team had was they gave the ball away much more than they took it away. Oats wants to get those transition buckets and really run a fast pace. Half court offense left a lot to be desired this year.
If anything, my biggest takeaway from this season has been that I underestimated just how good Herb Jones was/is.

I really have no feel for what the general consensus is on here, but I would be happy to have Shack back.
He may not be a vocal leader (or even a leader, I dunno), but I see a guy who played hard this year. And frankly we had several guys that didn’t always do that.
And of course he’s a good shooter, passable defender, etc.
Of all the guards/wings (maybe excluding Keon and definitely excluding Burnett), he’s the guy I’d most like to see back.
If we lose everybody and successfully raid the transfer portal, I’d be ok with that too.

I want shack back too, but only if he learns his place in the offense, and doesn’t try to shoot 13 threes a game

Shackleford took 14 shots per game this year, and 8.7 3s.
I think the best scenario for the team is if that 3s attempted number stayed at about 8-9 a game, but the overall shots per game dropped to 11-12 or so.
Just all 3s, all the time. Stay out of the lane unless it’s just wide open.

Yep unless hes wide open in transition for a layup shack just needs to spot up for 3s or catch and dhoot off screens

True about Herb. I hope Holt does come back. He moves well for his size and rebounds. In warm ups, he can shoot, but that hasnt carried over to the actual game. But at least I know he can shoot it. Several on this team cannot.

All of them hit shots in warm ups, that’s absolutely irrelevant lmao.
He does give good energy and rebounding/defense, but he’s one of the worst shooters on the team from a statistical stand point, and he was known to be one in high school. I won’t lose any sleep if he hits the portal

No doubt. Even those of us that recognized just how damn valuable he was last year still probably didn’t account for how badly he would be/was missed. Based on how good he is, it’s almost disrespectful to label him as a glue guy, but he damn sure seemed to hold everything together for us while also just being an all around good basketball player. He was incredible for us last season and I still almost can’t even believe how much improvement he’s made since his freshman year. The man is a starter in the NBA and has the elite of the elite in that league praising his defensive abilities.
Herb Jones is a fricking legend in my book.

Yeah, Herb is going to make multiple NBA All-Defense teams and maybe even win a DPOY in his career. Guys that good are rare.

Whatever Herb is a no talent ruhtard who I wouldn't want on my team

I don’t disagree with that at all, but that’s not going to get him to the league and I’m still working under the assumption of that being his ultimate goal. If he still wants the most minutes and the most shots, I feel like it is in our best interest for him to find that elsewhere.

Where has that guy been anyway? Did he get banned and come back with alter and I didn’t realize or what?

I hope they leave those embarrassing conference championship banners behind in Coleman. Banners for anything less than nattys are pathetic.

If he is back as an alter he has changed his shtick. That kind of stupid is hard to hide. I think our boy Fever has returned though.

I thought Fever was IrobbedmyMom?

I’ve said this about shack for 2 years, he should be a catch and shoot 3 guy. Period. I’d be happy if he moved on, but if not I could get on board with him being nothing but a catch and shoot 3 player.

Not true. Holt looks like one of our best shooters in warmups. Well ahead of JD, Gurley, KAH, Miles, etc

Yes, but don't forget #12 NBA draft pick Primo and former 5 star Petty, who played great defense and, though he was off some games, did set the Alabama 3 point record. Plus we had nobody like Reese this year. Gurley tried, but he shot terrible from 3. Bruner was smart and good when he was healthy.

Mine too. Up there with TR, Mule, Enimo, McKey, McDyess, Ronald Steele, and more legends.
