Can someone post this for all SEC teams as well as our OOC schedule?

T-Rank Projections

You can sort by projections or by returning minutes, returning possession minutes or experience.

Yep, missed them.

Damn it our schedule.

I rewatched Oats' post NSD press conference this morning. He mentioned they're still looking for OOC opponents but don't want to load up on top 10 teams since we still have Houston and play in the SEC. I laughed so hard I didn't need a second cup of coffee to wake me up.

It's going to be a lot of fun if and when we are winning these games, but if we end up losing a majority of them - close or not - this thread will end up getting volatile again.

After the start we had last year I'm going to try and not overreact until conference play.

Okay that's a lie but at least I mean well.

We will miss Herb's versatility on that end, but I think we will overall be a good defensive team assuming everyone buys in like they did last year. The only guys on the roster who I think are physically limited to being average defenders are Shack and JQ.

Pretty much agree. I do think Herb is a massive loss defensively. That's sort of Captain obvious stuff, but he was literally off the charts on that end. His defense over the three games of the SEC tournament was just truly elite.

That being said, I think one thing that is not often mentioned is us hanging on to Charlie Henry.

I don't know who really coaches defense, but he always gets a lot of responsibility for it, and I thought we were a well coached defensive team.

We had to have been one of the best teams in the country defending pick and rolls. We hedged screens super well and our big men (not just Herb) did a really good of job of getting out on the screen and then rotating back to their man.

So if we continue to be well-coached, we should have the players to still be good (even if guys like Bediako and Tchikou go full deer in headlights for the first month or two).

Oats said Charlie Henry is the defensive coordinator fwiw.

Thoughts:

Belmont/Drake are two very experienced teams. Likely won't be an easy out in the second game of the ESPN tournament.

Kansas, Memphis, and Gonzaga might be three of the most talented teams in basketball, much less on the schedule.

The OOC schedule as a whole is grueling.

A lot of new faces in SEC play this year.

The conference should be more talented as a whole than 2020-21.

Don't sleep on MSU this season.

UK should be back to their annoyingly talented selves.

Rick Barnes gets to choke as a preseason favorite again.

It's going to be a fun season.

What does projected effective talent mean? I'm seeing some insanely low numbers for our supposedly competitive mid major opponents.

Yeah... Crean has been a disaster in Athens. I would be shocked if he survived another year, even given Georgia's apathy for basketball.

Each player has individual offensive and defensive ratings. I'm not going to pretend to know everything he uses to generate his player projections, but I'm assuming "Talent" is based on his player rankings and how the compilation of players on each team compares to the rest of college basketball.

Recruiting rankings, basically. It's the basketball version of the "composite talent rankings" on 247 for football.

And, as you can imagine, most mid-majors will be pretty low on that.

I feel like football recruiting rankings, as flawed as they may be, are a little more dependable than basketball rankings. Agree or disagree?

A Pacers fan tweeted this yesterday:

John Petty was scheduled to workout for the Pacers today but wasn't there. I noticed he removed his profile pic on Instagram too. Not sure what happened but hopefully he's all good. Bummer, was excited to hear from him

Went and checked his IG and it’s true. No profile pic and looks like he deleted all of his posts but one. Don’t know what’s going on with him but I hope he’s good

This thread will never be as volatile as it was that day we found out we lost by 30 to Jacksonville State in a closed scrimmage. We melted tf down

It's pretty unreadable after every loss imo. Maybe since we had some success last year there wont be as much negativity after losses this year.
