He picked us over Kansas State, Pepperdine, Montana, Long Beach State and UNLV.

He wasn't exactly highly recruited nor did he pick us over big time programs.

If he wanted his son to get rich, he should've sent him to Pepperdine and get married before he graduates.

Nothing, but kinda something to do with basketball. Hunter Johnson is 39. For Gods sake. I find some of his shite funny, but he39 and has no life. He argued with a South Carolina staff member. I appreciate his love for the university, but shite, grow up. He’s a sad old man at this point, and I would happily say that to his face.

He acts like he’s some huge hot shot that works for the school, when in reality he’s just a super fan with a few connections lmaoo. I can’t stand him.

I liked his and Cecil’s Bama bball podcast a lot, sucks the Tuscaloosa News cancelled it. I hope they bring it back this Bball season.

I think Shack was kind of somebody they stumbled upon right? They went out there to watch Forbes and noticed Shack and ended up offering him too. As a matter of fact, I think Forbes was the higher ranked recruit

Yeah, but Hunter said not to worry because he and Cecil have something in the works. Hopefully they are able to figure it out before the season rolls around because it was a really solid podcast.

39 is the new 19 as far as I'm concerned. And it definitely has nothing to do with me getting close to 39. Nothing at all.

Yeah, Forbes was just barely ranked higher - one spot in the SG rankings and three spots overall.

I don't remember exactly how or when either was noticed. One is from California and the other from Mississippi, but maybe they both played in the same gym at some point in a tournament or AAU. Pettway was the lead recruiter for both, but it felt like he was the only recruiter on staff for like 10 years.

I do know that the scenario you referenced above is exactly how they found Darius Miles. Hodgson was at IMG to watch Moussa Diabate and stuck around for another game and that's when Miles caught his eye.

I remember being a kid or even a teenager and thinking somebody like my uncle at 40 was old. Now that I am mid to late thirties myself, I realize that it really isn't old at all and that all teenagers are always a lot dumber than they think they are due to a lack of life experience. 40 is only old if you're a big three professional athlete.

And speaking of Shack, I was doing some digging and came across something slightly interesting.

quote:

Shackelford began his high school career at Oak Hills and made a splash in his freshman campaign when he averaged 14.7 points per game. He transferred to Hesperia before his junior season and picked up where he left off, averaging 23.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game.

I couldn't find anything that gave an explanation for the transfer. Oak Hills to Hesperia is only about eight miles, so I don't think they moved. I don't know anything about either school as far as classification goes. The big uptick in scoring could just be natural progression. Or it could be that Shack's father moved him to another school - after his sophomore season, no less - that would give Shack a better chance to shine.

Yeah all kidding aside I've actually enjoyed my 30s. It's honestly kind of a great time in life. You're old enough to have the life experience to not be a fricking idiot anymore, you start making good money, the college stamina may not be there anymore but the enthusiasm for sexy time still exists, and your kids still think you're the best because they haven't turned into surly teenagers yet. I've got no complaints.

And that's weird because Oak Hill is known for all players including Rondo, Durant, Micheal Beasley, and many of them goes to Kentucky to play and ends up in NBA... So he went from NBA Ready school to a school known for AP classes... So this has his dad mess all over this. He want his son to be #1

Check out the rosters when Shackleford was at that school:

Oak Hills High School in California and Oak Hill Academy in Virginia are not the same thing.

I think the dad thing is pretty rock solid at this point. The specific reasons, Shack's feelings on it all, etc? Not sure, but I think his dad definitely was pushing a new destination. A quick scan of his dad online (plus some of the comments mentioned earlier when Shack signed) show that he is a self-proclaimed "basketball teacher", so I'm guessing he has a very specific idea of what his son is as a player and how he should be used.
I think you're probably right. Imo, it seems that daddy wants the kid to handle the ball more (a.k.a in the spotlight). The problem with this is that he's too slow, and doesn't have a solid handle, two things that can't really be taught.
All said, Oats knows exactly how he'll handle the situation as it progresses.
