ESPN's campaign is obviously working. Literally no one calls ULL "Louisiana" except for them.

I still call them by their city name (Monroe, Lafayette).

My dad still calls them by the old Waterboyesque names - Southwestern and Northeast.

Give me Obanor...that SOB can play. You make room for someone like that. Ellis can take the Shack/Primo role

Agreed - I know he's working out for the draft, too. A list of schools was noted that reached out to him and we weren't on it. But I'd guess at this point he's doing draft stuff and if he decides to come back he'll move focus to transfer spots.

We haven't recruited him much at all since sometime last year.

From perusing the Torvik Transfer Database here are the guys that I'm most curious and intrigued by that I'd really never heard of.

Good list. Wonder if any of our '22 targets is a candidate to reclassify to '21?

Someone posted earlier that Shaedon Sharpe was a potential reclassification, but he has also received a CB to Kentucky from one of their writers in the last couple of days. I think that may have been based on the idea that he would remain in the 2022 class though, because I'm not sure how Kentucky would have room for him if Cockburn ends up there as well.

Out of that list give me Radford. I think his baggage is probably just the product of being a stupid teenager with teenager judgment rather than him having poor character. Obanor is a really good player, but I don't see where he'd fit in on our roster. We need guards/wings more than bigs, and we already have Gurley to fill the role of experienced stretch 4. He's going to want to land on a P-6 program where he's playing 30mpg for draft stock purposes.

Yeah getting Obanor doesnt make any sense to me either, great player but we lost two guards and people think the fix is to add another forward?

I want Russell, we lost two shooters, Russell was top 20 in the country in three pointers made plus he is a really good ball handler. I think he could be about a perfect replacement for the production Shack gave us on offense.

I agree that I prefer a Guard that can help replace some of that 3pt shooting and depth but I'll play devil's advocate here for a moment.

- If you're going best available then he's right there, I don't have the full list in front of me but I'm sure he's regarded as top 3-5 available. With his talent and skill set, you make the lineup work.

- Speaking of his skill set, he shot 46% from 3 on just over 4 attempts per game. So he has a shooting stroke and can also help on the glass. He may be the wrong position but he would replace some of the shooting we just lost.

- Last point. Alright, he's a stretch 4 but let's not act like our Frontcourt is solidified. The two guys with the biggest upside include one guy coming off a major injury and still not 100% and the other is more of an interior big. It wouldn't be the worst thing to have another stretch 4 and the way Oats moves his lineups around, there would be plenty of playing time still for Gurley and the others.

JQ/JD/Burnett/Ellis/Miles makes for a very good Guard rotation. Adding Obanor makes sure we don't have to rush any of the young guys into situations they're not ready for. Considering we had Gary playing the 5 for stretches in big games, I don't think Oats would complain about having another 6'9" dude.

I wouldn't complain if we got him but I would be surprised if we recruited him, signing him wouldn't make much sense for us or him.

Has there been any smoke as to who the staff may be looking at? Or is it all just fans looking at the portal and picking favorites?

Not that I have seen. Someone in the thread said they heard we contacted Obanor but I haven't seen it anywhere, yesterday he listed the schools he had talked to and didn't mention us.

Looking at the Obanor highlights against Ohio State, he's the player that James Rojas imagines himself to be.

He would fit in really nice with this system. Fitting with this roster is a different question but consider this; if JD has issues shooting the 3 like some say, it sure would be nice to have the opposing bigs chasing Gurley and Obanor around the perimeter and letting JQ/JD/Keon drive to the basket. They would create a lot of mismatches. The shots dont have to come from the guards.
